Best XENON/HID companies to go w/ for UPGRADE?
I want to upgrade my halogens to a nice HID... I've done a search but maybe it's my style of searching but I haven't found something specific to this question other than ZERO POINT INDUSTRIES... is there a kit out there that lets you pick the type of bulb (K) that goes w/ it? Thanks!

can I suggest Kaixen HID kits?
if your driving xA or xB, make sure you go with a kit that has anti-glare protection shield. H4 housings are not designed for HID kits, and thus have the poorest cut-off out of all the sizes. Therefore, you should get the shield protection.
Kaixen kits are also direct plug and play. It also has TRUE bixenon HID, instead of those ones that use halogen bulb as high and HID as low.
I'd be happy to answer more questions you might have regarding HID kits or Kaixen brand.
Philips kits are good, but if you're going to get it, make sure you get it from a reputable seller. This is because Philips do not make H4 bulb size from factory. The resellers buy the D2S bulbs and rebase them on their own. This is why you dont get factory warranty from Philips.

Ya know what urks me? Those sites out there that post Kits, hype them up, and they then do nothing but show pictures of vehicles with OEM HID's. If you're selling a kit, show pictures of cars that have your kit, not cars that have the OEM HID's.

I can also provide you links to other forums who have bought Kaixen kits from me and have posted pictures.

At http://www.AutomotiveLightingUSA.com you can pick H4 HID Kits from two different manufacturers, with anywhere from 3000K Yellow to 12,000K Purple so whatever you're into they've got it.....

Yes, thats very true.
Another thing to note when buying HID.
Don't always go for the "cheapest price". It's always true what they say: "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR".
With "scams" aside, any kit that sells for so cheap will always have its reasons.
Unfortunately, the HID market is flooded with new brands. This makes it hard for consumers to know which brands are actually good or not.
Imagine that the auto industry just started out, and you dont know the quality difference between FORD and TOYOTA. Both look like a car ... they both drive like a car ... but one is cheaper, and the other is more expensive.
Naturally, most will go with FORD based on that fact. Others will also back it up by saying "it looks good! great kit".
However, only time will tell on which brand is true quality.
One thing you can do is use the following guide:
1. Make sure the brand has history. There are so many fly-by brands that are only around for a few months and close down. This is because they sell in large numbers with their cheap prices, and they close down just when people are claiming warranties on their products. Make sure the BRAND you are consider has at least 5 years in the business.
2. Find out exactly where it was made from. Just like you know that "Electrohome" is a TV brand that is made in China ... electronic goods made from China aren't good. They may look like Sonys, and they may function like a Sony, but soon, the colours will fade, channels will skip .. and it just wont work in a few months. Same thing goes for HID kits. Don't judge them based on how great the colour looks. Poor quality HID kits fade colour given time. They lose brightness, and worst of all, they may jsut stop working within a few months. Check out all the "rice cars" on the streets with cheap HID kits. There's a reason why most of these cars have one HID bulb working. Also, keep in mind. Most Chinese or Taiwan made products will not tell you where their kits are made from. Ever heard of any product manufacturer proud of being made in China or Taiwan? Not likely. It's not a fact that most of them want you to know. Alternatively, if they are made in Japan, Korea, or Germany, they will always state their their kit is "Made in Japan / Korea / Germany" proudly. This means, if you can't seem to find out where the kit is made from - most likely, they are made in China.
3. Check out long-term reviews. Don't just read the "I just got the kit and it looks great!" reviews. FORD owners will probably the same thing, until a few trips to the dealershpi for recalls. See if you can find users who have used the brand for a long time with no problems.
4. Find out what the defect rates are. Try searching on google, or other forums. Search for that specific brand and see what people say. Don't just try the reseller's words when they say "we have less than 0.0001% defect rate". Unfortunately, there's no third-party company that verifies their claims. So, you would have to do some searching to find out yourself if the claim is true or not.
Like in all products. Do your homework.
Most kits sell between $250 to $350. Don't go for the cheapest, and you don't always have to go for the most expensive either.
The more time you spend on researching, you will become a smarter consumer.

http://www.xenonfactory.com hands down. I had their 6000k H4 kit in my 99 Solara..you can see pics on their resources page, under 6000k or my cardomain link, http://members.cardomain.com/icrazychrisi . Top notch quality, easy to read directions, very good customer service, and what really sold me was a 3 year warantee on all parts..To this day I dont know of any other company that offers that stands by their product like them. Did I mention it also includes a casper shield to reduce glare?

has anyone put HID's in the stock XB housing? with the shields?
i mean is it even worth doing?
do the shields stop the beam from going high enough into oncoming traffic?
or is it better to get a set of projector lenses, then put the HIDs in em?
i just wish someone made a complete kit to convert the XB to HID's...

methodzz - there are plenty of people with the HID kits in stock housings, some kits come with shields already and others you can purchase one after the fact, with that being said the housings on the projector beams or stock housings are not set up to properly handle the output of a HID kit and that is why they are for show or offroad use only! Using glare shields and/or adjusting the lights will help but you are putting out around 3x's the light over stock! A retrofit is the only proper way to go and still won't be approved cause it is not factory but you would incoperate the proper projector lens to focus the beam and provide the oncoming traffic cutoff like a factory setup. All this being said do I run 'em? Yes and I'll get some pictures up with 6000K in my stock housings on my thread when it stops raining at night .. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=112925
All being said the beams on lifted trucks, improperly adjusted lights and 100watt low beams are just as annoying, just my thoughts!
