Car accident dilemma (FLEA)
#22
Dang buddy... that really sucks. I hope everything works out for you and your ride. My car had similar damage a year ago. My tC was parked a friend swiped her car from my front bumper to my rear bumper (over $3000 in damage.) The recommended local body shop did an ok job, but even with all the blending and color match, the SW color is obviously missing from a good portion of the car.
So, if you have the skills to paint your car (as I wish I had), I would recommend you do it yourself after you get as much money out of the deal as possible. You cannot trust anyone more than you trust yourself!
Good luck buddy! :D

Uh, since it sounds like FLEA has to pay for the damages, it sounds like either the person fled the scene or didn't have insurance.
Horrible and idiotic drivers now a days who don't pay attention while driving and or parking.

It wasn't a hit and run. The other car has a hole in the front bumper and headlight, the side fender is dented, splash guard popped out of position as well as the hood. The damage on her car just goes to prove that I wasn't at fault. It kind of sucks because I just moved into a new apartment in Fullerton less than 1/4 mile away from CSUF (Madison Ave & Placentia Ave).
I am just getting prepared to pay a deductible because the last time my insurance handled my accident it took them literally 8 months to reimburse me the deductible I paid ($500 at the time)....oh and the other party was at fault then.
I'm going to end up buying the parts myself and the paint and doing everything on my own. Fortunately since I used to work for Toyota/Scion I can get all the pieces for $1700, bodywork will be free...since I'm doing it, and I am in the process of getting the paint made (painting the whole car a different color). Glad I have really good friends that work there and get a good discount.

I have never contacted my insurance for repairs when someone else hit me.Call the other parties insurance and tell them to get it fixed,if they try to say you are at fault then contact your insurance.

I work for a body shop, so I decided to write a super quick etimate for you. This estimate is written with brand new OE parts (your insurance company will dictate what type of parts are put back on your vehicle. IE: OE/AM/LKQ). This is a very quick estimate and are based on $40 per hour labor and paint rates, including misc materials. R&I of parts, overhauling of doors, blending panels, door edging etc are not included, as I really can't write a solid estimate without a VIN. This is also from an 08 tC as I did not know what year you have. The layout is a bit funky a I had to export the estimate into a PDF then copy text from the PDF into a Word Docuoment to prevent posting any customer information.
My advice is to take it to a body shop. The door alone will almost set you back $1000.

^Thanks for that. I was waiting for a SL member to pick up his painted kit from the booth tonight. While I was waiting my paint and body teacher were looking at my car. We both agreed that there was anywhere from $3400 - $3800 worth of damage.
