Default carbon fiber hatch

i have a few questions about it. i have seen lots of pics that they dont sit flat, or not level with the trunk and looks bad, so my first question is what is the best brand that has the perfect or near perfect fit? second how hard is it to install? and the last question is how much does it cost to replace the window?

VIS trunk is great. not hard to install i guess i dont know if all of them are like this but i know the interior plastic pieces dont fit. replacing a window could be anywhere from 100 to 200 bucks to swap window into the CF one

Ive got the VIS one on mine and the fitment is perfect after you replace the OEM pistons that hold it up, it lifts up about 1/2 inch when closed. And yeah my total install cost INCLUDING window to c.f. hatch was about 200 even

well the install shouldnt be too hard, its the transfering of the glass from your OEM to your CF hatch that many people cant do on their own. then rewiring the defrosters and fitting your interior pieces on might require some drilling here and there...

so rewiring the defrosters require drilling or installing the interior pieces require drilling?

installing the interior pieces may require drilling because the clips on the pieces need a hole to snap into. i dunno if any trunks come pre-drilled and if not, youll just have to drill carefully. usually there are little indentations where the OEM holes are suppose to be and you just find the right size drill bit and do work. for the defroster, its a wire and should not be that hard. but if youre not careful, you can mess up (splice a wire, scratch a heating element , etc) and the defrosters may not work.

me and a couple people have installed a cf trunk, for the window we had one of those glass companies install the window for us. but as far as the interior pieces, they are simple take i believe a 7/16 drill bit or something equivalent to that and drill the holes. what we did was put a lil bit of powder on the tabs so that when we lined it up it would leave a small powder mark on the hatch, from the just drill. lmk if you need more assistance.

good ideas. I just ordered a Seibon one last night. I'll have to refer back to this once I get ready to install it.

^ cool thanks. I read somewhere that the Seibon ones have a metal area to ground for the defroster. This true, or do both companies have this? Living in IL, I'm gonna need a rear defrost for sure.
