Default Clear coat cracking

while washing my car i found a spot where the clear coat is cracking or melting as a result of my engine bay temps. Its a real small spot just past where the heat shield foil ends. I already ordered more heat shield to prevent it from happening any more. Anything i can do to fix the clear? or do i need to just take it to a paint shop.

Well if it is cracked, you will need it touched up. You could try clear coat touch up, but the shop would be the best idea.

It depends if you want it fixed, or fixed with out telling it has been fixed.

Either way, I would probably try to seal if up with a little bottle of clear coat so it doesn't get worse. You could then go over it with polishing compound to blend it together and see if that helps.

Be sure to sand down the clear coat first. Don't just apply clear coat over existing clear coat that's not scuffed up and cleaned properly.
