Man I'm glad I live in Florida. Cops don't care what you do to you car around here. well it does kinda suck a little bit cuz you got the ricers with the loud ___ exhausts who should get pulled over for it. for being so damn loud and annoying. haha.

it's not that they don't like it, it just draws attention. obviously stock looking cars won't stand out much to cops, or even just regular people.

To give you guys an example of the cost of a ticket for modded cars...

My friend has a Scion tC as well and he got pulled over and was given a date with the State Referee, couldn't drive his car til it was stock, and also given a $700 fine for having an intake, header, and exhaust.
It was in the high 600s for the ticket. I don't care though. Live life dangerously

Yeah, I feel extremely bad for those of u who live in California, it SUCKS out there. I used to live in San Diego couple years back but I didn't have a license so I don't know how bad it really is, all my friends who drove RSX's, Supra's, and Honda's said that law enforcement is stiff with modifying ur car.........

If I put a turbo on my car in Cali and get pulled over, my car gets towed and a huge fine.

If I move to Arizona with the same turbo and car. My car is so chill its just stupid. It all depends on the state.

And damn California just a passed a new green house law is supposed to cut emission levels by a lot

I just recently had my hood popped and later spoke with my friend who is a Sheriff and he told me that...

"If a cop asks you to pop your hood, you can say no! They need one of two things to search your car, a warrant, or your permission.
I highly doubt that they will call their Sergeant to get a warrant to check a car because the Sergeant will tell him to do his job and not to worry about the little things!"

Just something to keep in mind for all of us in Cali. I wish i would've known this a month sooner!

But yeah, any exterior mods throw up red flags to the cops that u are a tuner and might have illegal mods.

I wouldnt say no. Because if you say no, that gives them probable cuase to search. Because if you say no, your obviously hiding something

^^they had probable cause to begin with, but nonetheless, they would need a search warrant

I just think how funny it is that Cops don't like tuners like us. I mean they don't pull over someone who has a lifted truck and their low beams are just aiming right into our eyes. Practically all of the lifted trucks out there have illegal items in their car but they don't stop them. No offense to some of you with lifted trucks but isn't there a law that your tailights have to be a certain height off the ground?? Cause one of my friends got pulled over ( hehas a tC) his car was lowered 2" all around and the cop said your tailights have to be a certain length off the ground and wrote him a fix-it ticket.

2 inches??? Thats bs. You cant lower our car enough to make it illegal. If you were to lower a tC to an "illegal low" it pyhsically would not be able to move forward. the whole body would just drag on the ground

Go ahead and get the intake. That is an easy mod. I run mine as Short ram. Its way nice and easy. Ive been pulled over and had my hood popped. I didnt get a ticket for it cuz he could see the filter. If they cant see it then they get more suspcious. my .02 cents

That's great. So I really need to do it in short ram? I plan to put the intake near the side vent. And the engine bay looks cleaner that way. :D

Yes and no. To get a fix-it for having taillights too low is nearly impossible on a tC ("15 minimum above the ground), but having headlights too low only takes about a 2" drop on stock tires, headlights can't be lower than 22".
