Default DIY- NiteShade Eyelids

This could be used with any paint, whether it is Nite Shade or the color of your car!

Tools-
-VHT Nite Shade
-Clear Coat
-1000-2000 grit wet sandpaper
-News Paper
-Painting Tape
-Flat Head Screw Driver
-10mm Socket, Extension, And Wrench
(Please excuse my red circles, my photoshop crashed.)

Alright Heres a pic of my old vinyl eyelid tint. It was starting to fog and look like crap..

1. Locate the 5 push rivets on the top of the bumper, Remove them with the flat head. On the underside, there are 6 more 10mm bolts with allen heads as well, remove them. At this poing the bumper should be loose.

2. Remove the 10mm bolt from the wheel well and push the well in to locate the last 10mm bolt.

3. Remove the Bumper

4. Locate the 2 10mm bolts on the top of the headlight, there is also one more on the side holding it to the front fender. Remove these. To remove the headlight you will have to tug pretty hard. There is a clamp they sit in, I just bent it a little to pull them out.

5. Start masking off where you want your eyelids to be. Mine are relatively plain, I stuck to the contour of the headlamp.

6. Either wetsand before painting and/or after. Just let it soak for a bit.

7. Start with a very light coat of VHT. MAKE SURE you don't paint in heavy coats. This paint will run, crack, and do all kinds of funky stuff. So BE PATIENT. Wait a few minutes between each coat. I used about 5 light coats, still pretty dark.

8. Wet sand if you wish, I did. Then spray down your clear.

9. Let them dry for a bit and put them back in the way you took them out! Still let light trough and you can see the eyelid in the headlight.

10. Stand back, drink one, and admire!

11. Wet Sand & Buffed. Just some additional pics!

Hopefully someone can use this!

Good job. Could use some sanding/buffing/polishing. I was thinking about doing this with paint matched spray cans. Decided it would probably chip alot so I got overlays instead.

They look better than overlays in my opinion!

The last two pics aren't in direct sun light. The close up is actually in complete shade. And APT's are on my list! They will be my next purchase as well as springs!
