Default Dual TC sunroof....possible?

I had my sunroof open the other day (in the middle of Jan ) when I noticed that there would be plenty of room under the front fully opened sunroof to be able to pop up the back one (like the old sunroofs). A manual one would be cool, Has anyone ever looked into this at all? I wonder if it might hurt the structural integrity somehow, though I can't see it. personally I think it would look aweome, truly unique.

That would be awesome. I don't know how many people I have told that the front one opens. Then they ask if the back one opens too. When I tell them no, the look disappointed. It would be nice if it popped open a bit.

You would end up looking sorta like a G6, with those "fins"...

But keep in mind that if you design one, do it so that you avoid the problem that the G6 owners have been having... that any residual water on the roof gets poured into the cabin.

i think it would look like poop when both were opened. as it is, i cant stand to look at the tC with the roof open, nevermind having them both open.

After getting the back one off, you would just have to throw on some kind of seal (I've seen them at the local auto store) then find a old car with one of those pop up sunroofs and take that hinge part that you push up. The hard part would be fabing up some hinges and mounting them. I'll be looking into it more. Don't have much $ so it would have to be a DIY.

i wouldn't recommend it...another sunroof is asking for more rattles on the top part of our car, it's not like we don't have enough rattles from the sunroof as it is right now

^^^

What he said... plus, you'll have to be very careful about the clearence with the rear window when you open the trunk. I think if toyota would have been able to make it work, it would already open. To them, it probably seemed like more trouble than its worth.

if they did it that way then they would have many people bringing them back because they opened the hatch with the back one open and...... you get the idea.

when the main sunroof is open, the glass slides back. so really there isnt much space up there to open. maybe enough to crack open...
even if it did open all the way, what would be the point if the glass of the other sunroof was ontop of it?

and to the guy that said he cant stand the look of the tC with the sunroof open, ur crazy. The car looks beautiful with it open.

I dont mean having the rear one slide open, that would def. be stupid. If you could just tilt it open like the first stage in the front one. I don't believe that would have any clearance problems with the hatch, and in my opinion it would look sick with both of them just tilted open.

if the main sunroof is open all the way, there is only like an inch of clearance above the moonroof.
If they were both just tilted, that would be pretty sweet. Liike somebody should make a system were the rear one tilts open like 2 inches, but when the main one opens, it goes down to like 1 inch

the old toyota paseo had a moonroof with detachable sunroof both being manual. and its about the same size as our 2nd panel back there. a good DIY would be replacing the second moonroof in our tc's with the one on the paseo's. you would have the manual in the back. just an idea...

There would be little, if no benefit from having the rear portion of the roof open a crack.

Just a waste of money and time. but props if you get it done. At least it will be unique.
