No theyre NOT different shocks.
I researched this when i was selling my spoiler on here and a couple of ppl asked me about the "upgraded hardware". The OEM pedestal spoiler literally only weighs around 3-4 lbs(if that) and doesnt need this so called "upgraded hardware". I compared the N pressure between my shocks and those of a stock wingless hatch and there the same.....I even asked two local scion parts guys and they even said there was no such thing.

To op....just look on here in the Classifieds section and youll find someone that wants to sell theirs...i sold mine on here to a local for $150

uhh.. from the factory, the pedestal spoiler COMES with new struts..
they are MUCH STRONGER than the stock ones...

i'm sure that stronger struts than the stock ones.. means that they are different.
meaning they are NOT the same.

Well if it counts towards anything, I have the stock shocks and the Kami wing on my car and my sister has the Ped spoiler) dealer installed. I need to manually lift my hatch ALL the way, and if its below 40 degrees, the hatch will not stay open on its own. To close it, all I have to do is give it a little tug down and let gravity do the work. My sisters on the other hand, shoots open right when you touch the button and you need to pull it all the way down until its closed, otherwise it'll shoot open. The weight difference between the two CAN'T be that much.

Wow, I was just tryin' to help the lad get the OEM spoiler for a low price (or even free)... I didn't mean to start an argument over hatch shocks.

Hm, I got the pedestal from the factory, but it doesn't "shoot up" when opened like you say, I have to help it up until about halfway open... I wonder if my dealer screwed me, anyway I can check?

very likely the dealership screwed you over. many of them are too lazy to install the spoiler properly and neglect to install the new struts

(probably also the case for the guy who's trying to argue with me)

the stronger struts ARE different and look different as well, having a different part number printed on the side

well if the guy wants to lay down some money saying they're the same, I can get home in about an hour, snap some pictures of the stock and the stronger ones and show otherwise

could use the money.

I'd be interested in pictures of the stronger ones. I'll be going to the dealer soon for my 2nd free service, so I can _____ and moan to them about having the wrong struts then.

i bought from this company..they claim they molded there spoiler from the OEM version but the holes doesnt match up correctly with the template that you have to buy they only supple you with 4 strips of crdboardf and expect you to line it up and dril the holes when infect you will have to get the correct hardware to install......the paint match perfect....but installation you have to use your head cause things dont kline up correctly
