i wouldnt do it only because if they were to check out the vin or anything like that and figure out what you did, thats some serious trouble. mostly because of the switching the liscense plates, i hear thats a big deal.

You should most definetly try it. Same thing happened to my friend and he did exactly what you said and got away with it. They don't process your VIN number. The written citation does have a space for a vin.

I suppose you could move to a state where it's legal.

If you have to have the car inspected at the court house, they will check the VIN. Or at least I've seen them do it in Burbank, Glendale, and L.A.

It's not worth it, break out the razor blade.

i just have to go get it sign by a chp officer, and go to court and pay a $10 fee. my friend got a ticket too like 3 months ago and they didnt even check his car. they just sign it and let him go. i tink the officer was lazy.

I usually have to go to court on this like 2-3 times a year. If you dont want to scrape the tint, Just pay the ticket. I have had them do both before. They will come out and look at it and sign it, and have had them check the car to make sure it is the right car. So it is a 50/50 chance that you might get away with it. I just pay the tickets and go on.

I got a tix back in Oct. for broken headlight for my Accord. I took it to the Alhambra court and they just checked my headlights and checked my license plate. He didn't even look at the VIN #.

furn4ce: what city did u get ur tix in? I'll make sure I don't go there.

just take the other tc to a local sherrif sub-station... they will look at the windows and sign it off... no checking of the vin.

yea I got a fix-it ticket too before...all they do is come out and look at the window if there is tint and sign it off. But I wouldn't try it since what if they do check the vin # and they don't match...you could get in serious trouble. If your bold then go ahead and try it, but I wouldn't.

If you do it you're going to get caught and get in some serious trouble. The mere fact that you came onto a public forum to ask people you don't know shows it. You're going to be all nervous when you go and the officer will have an eye for the sweat beads on your forehead. Hehe, no joke.
