So what most of you are saying is it's not worth it, correct? I might as well save those extra hundred dollars for some other mod then.

Definitely worth it here in the Central Valley when it gets up to 110 degrees in the summer. Unless you have some ungodly mod on your tC that's just asking to get pulled over, you should be alright with 35% on the sides. Here's a pic of my tint in the sun...

Its not as dark as you would think. Even at night it easy to see in and out of. I say "go for it".

I thought in California the front windows can be tinted up to 70%. I was thinking of tinting my car, but I wanted to stick with a light reflective/mirror tint (80% front and 50% rear) Anyone have pics of 80/50 or light tint?.

35% all around, its a nice tint, but not too dark so it's not really a problem(even though the legal is 70% here, lol)

I did however get pulled over for my front license plate being on the dash the other day(what a joke)

nope.. its no tint on fronts and anything goes on anything BEHIND THE DRIVERS HEAD. so, if you wanted to, you could paint your rears black. LOL. but if you tint your rear right, you need a right sideview mirror. ive done my reading.

but i did mine 20%B and 25%R. Still no trouble with being pulled over twice. my pics on the first page.

I live in NJ and so far I've had two tickets for tint. Both of them, though, I was pulled over for other reasons My tint is 15% on the rear and 35% on the front sides. Each ticket was $50 or so. I still have my tint, though

I got 5% on the rears and winshield banner and 20% on the fronts. No ticket yet, but whenever I see a cop waiting at a light at an intersection or anythng like that, i hit the ol' automatic window down switch on whatever side they're on. It's worked here in Chicago for about a year and a half now, but probably looked awkward as hell when I was doing it the past two winters...

I got 32% all-around, and to me, it looks like this is so common that the cops would have to pull over 70% of the cars here in LA.
I imagine that if you do something else wrong, you may get nabbed for it, but I'm not worried about it.

i know the front windows have to be within state's limit, but what about the quarter panels and hatch? can those be tinted at any %age or does it have to be within state's limit all around?

I think the police is more concerned about the driver and passenger windows being darker then the rear quaters and hatch. That's how it is in Cali. You can thank your local gang bangers for this because the police was rolling up on tinted cars and fools were shooting at them. I would check with your state tint laws just to be sure.

i have 20% tint all the way around, which is pretty illegal in Utah. In the day it doesn't look to dark at all but at night it looks way dark. Never been pulled over luckily but i do get a look or two from cops every once and a while.

Unless it's changed, the only cost is time & trouble. It's known as a "fix-it" ticket, because you have to correct the issue (remove the tint) and show them it's been removed, then the ticket is closed. This is the same for not having a front license plate, as I got hit for both at the same time.

but... i remember seeing on here a couple of times that its no longer just a fix-it. its a moving violation now? can anyone confirm or deny this?
