I have still had no problem. For the people that think it will melt your harness think about it... you have 9005s in your stock highbeams and it is the same harness as on your low beam 9006... so they are built to handle the 9005s

If you want brighter, hit eBay and buy some Toshiba 9011/9012. Fits with a little bit of trimming (much like the 9005/9006 swap) and the bulbs are 75% brighter while using the same wattage due to reflectorized bulb design. Near-HID brightness for $24 a bulb.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. Fabulous job of blind guessing, assumption, and misinformation, though. Toyco didn't make the lowbeam socket out of one material, and the highbeam socket out of some other space-age material. It works fine. We're not talking about putting in 85w bulbs. We're talking about moving the highbeam bulb over about 8 inches.

But hey, you go right ahead and buy that HID kit, which is completely illegal in all 50 states. No HID retro is legal. It's that simple.

i did the 9005/9006 retro and the light output is def. brighter. i was driving behind my friend at night and he claimed that my headlights looked the same when i had the 9006 lowbeams in. 9005 cut off looks the same as 9006 cutoff on a wall. i used sylvania cool blues btw.

Default HIDs vs. other

well it seems like sylvanias is the bulb of choice, however if u guys claim that i can buy a kit on ebay for $200 for hids then i will go that rout, but it almost seems to good to be true, all teh good hids kits ive seen for sale are $500+, if i gonna spend $200+ on hids then im gonna go all the way and buy the better kit, bc w/ a kit that costs $200 you'd think that it wouldnt be high quality, yeah non hids are cheeper and not as bright but i dont want to risk a bulb going out or having a kit that is illegal, it wouldnt be worth it to me.

Well i was able to get some better pics than i had before. I think i should have either taken them higher or lower cause i was kinda at level where they were pointing. I was unable to get some on the road cause it was starting to rain. I have the 9005 Silverstars in the low beams. I went to the local auto store where they carry Silverstars and no NEW Ultra bulbs. I contacted Sylvania to see if they could give me info on the bulbs as in Kelvin, Lumens, and wattage? Ill see?

Stock

9005 Silverstars

for some reason the pics on the housings look almost the same, i swear there's different bulbs in there. The Silverstars show a tad more white shade than stocks. Its alot brighter on the road than stock and the Luminics i had (Ultra White and Titanium White). The color is different as you can see in the pics but IDK why the housing pics look almost exactly the same?

those new Silverstar Ultra's will be around $60/pair! kinda pricey? They say it wont be on the shelves till about another month or so? The only thing i got from the e-mail from Sylvania was that the silverstars and the silverstar ultras are the same 4000K?

I'm in the market for new bulbs. I've had Silverstars before in my old car. Did wonders. I'd like more blue, though, so I'm going to try Sylvania cool blues I think.

It would look sick to retrofit a UV light that they use in cave explorations onto the headlights.........you would burn holes in the cars in front of you!!

Cheaper HIDS..........buy 2 of these flashlights, and some duct tape..........strap them to your hood and roll.......

ha ha funny man i just installed my sylvania silver stars last night, much better than stock bulbs the white light makes the road a whole lot more easier to see and the best part they shine brighter, they def arent hids and they didnt break my bank. The price battle has ended between (hids vs other).....THE WINNER?! SYLVANIA SILVERSTARS.
