Default help with potential retrofit

Hey I am thinking about a retrofit using a kit from the retrofitsource. Here's the kithttp://store.theretrofitsource.com/p...4f33d481d418a8

Only other major cost is a set of headlights right? I found a used set for 90 +400 for this kit, sounds reasonable. The rest are just misc hardware and a mounting plate I think...

thats exactly where i got all my stuff for a retrofit. I also had the tsx projectors. Just sold them and boy do i miss them.

but Yeah all you need are the headlights. I assume your using 05-07 headlamps?

Everything is included in the kit(projectors, harness, shroud, bulb, ballast) just need headlamps.

IMHO(tsx are good but I personally had tsx they are really good but ppl say they are over rated. Granted they are really easy to retrofit bc of the way they are made. I would try to go for the The Lexus RX-AFS Low beam projectors w/ TSX-r lens. had sent him an email and he said this is 95% of the performance of the s2k.

OR you could wait he his making a S2K-r setup. but he said will be available in late summer.

Hey good luck with your retro I attempted a retro on 07 headlights and it was tough. had issues making a bracket. So i got 08 projectors and easily swapped them out.

Think i might buy some ebay headlamps for cheap throw a eyebrow and slap those lexus rx-afs w tsx r lens.

Keep me updated on your retro want to see how you do it on reflector housings where you have to make your own bracket. Will look nice and have that custom look bc of the shroud.

thanks tyson. My tC is an 05 and I was thinking of buying 05-07 headlights, but only because they are cheaper. I think 08+ would look fine and if they are easier to retrofit that's great, but they are harder to find and expensive. On trdsparks a new set runs 400+. I found a 05-07 set on ebay for 100 so I think I might just do that.

What was tough about making the bracket? I'm a mech engineer, I make brackets for a living so I better be able to tackle this lol. But your experience would save me heartache.

I'll look into the lexus projectors, thanks for the advice.

I was wondering, is the kit that he offers is a good deal (price)? I feel lazy and this kit seems perfect, just buy it and some headlights and I'm set. If I can get better prices for the individual parts I might do that.

At first I shrugged off the thought of retros because of the cost. But my friend recently gave me an HID kit so I run 8000k right now, and its pretty bad. Looks nice from the outside but it def glares and sometimes illuminates the road worse than the stock bulbs. Putting HIDs in reflector housings is not a good idea.

i have the fx-r projectors because im removing my highbeam from my headlights.... still trying to find an alternative that looks good w/o hacking up my internals... i might try to mount the 9006 projector that came stock in my headlights in the highbeam spot as a filler.

So dave you're running the fx-r as bixenon and the highbeam part of your headlight isn't being used? Why not leave it as the fx-r doing both low and high?

Hey there I'm new to this forum and I would like to know you guy's opinion. I too will be retrofiting my '06 TC. Now, I changed my headlights to the '08 +. I just purchased from the retrofit source and I will be getting the RX-AFS/TSX clear lens set up. Do you know if it will fit like a glove or will there be any cutting or messing with the housing?
