So I installed an 8000K HID kit in my high beams for the hell of it. Looks pretty bad a$$. . It makes everyones eyes feel like burning while I drive.

Last summer I also installed a 8000k HID kit in my low beams. So I've had the low beam HIDs running for a while now.

So... once i got my High beam up and running. I notice a clear difference in color between low and high HIDs.

Keep in mind that they are both 8000k HIDS, they are different brands, one is brand new, and the other is about 6 months old or so.

The high beams are a nice crisp blue... where my low beams look almost like they are 6000k HIDs now. pure white. =[

so do HIDs color fade over time?? Maybe a bad ballast / bulb? the difference in brand?

What do you guys think?

 

it could also be because the highs are in a reflector housing and the lows are in a projector housing, the lense will change the color some.

 

Thats what I thought... so I pulled the HID out of the projector... and the bulb was pure white!

 

Ya... that sounds totally bad ___.
