homemade grille. pictures inside
for the price i did it, i'd say its worth it.
pretty much all you need are
and scissors.
i went to home depot. found something called "Metal Lath." its some kind of mesh thing people probably use for fencing or whatever. was only $5.98 plus tax, came out to be $6.56.
i removed the grille from the bumper. just open the hood, you'll see like 8 clips or something holding it together. thats pretty easy, u'll figure it out.
then, when i had the grille out, i traced a cardboard piece around it to make the shape of the grille. like so....
then, i cut a piece of the metal lath thing about an inch and a half larger than the cardboard that i cut all around.
i didnt get a picture of the final product cuz i was rushing to get it done.
then, i went to my car. made sure it fit all around making the final touches. it should fit nice and snug. try not to scratch the paint.
i went to 99 cents store and picked me up some zip ties. can you guess how much i spent?
remember the clips i mentioned earlier that was holding the oem grille to the bumper... i used the zip ties to connect the homemade grill to the bumper to make it a more "permanent" feel.
This is the finished product
im probably gonna end up doing the bottom grill...when i figure out how to remove it. im too lazy to jack up the car and unclip it or whatever. so when i get that done, whenever that will be, ill post more pics.
overall, im pretty satisfied at the price i did it. didnt spend more than 8 dollars.
let me know what you guys think
oh yeah, DONT FORGET!!!!! make sure you wear workers gloves or whatever they're called. cuz this metal lath thing can and WILL cut up you hands. trust me. i cut up my right thumb, left pinky, and left ring finger within 5 minutes. be careful
UPDATE!!!!
so i bought an 05-07 grille from aciddrop for 20 bucks. took out the chrome ring. painted the metal mesh black and mounted it on the ring. here are the updated pictures.

sorry but I just feel like it looks like one of those cars with the chrome buick fender emblems, and just about every other auto part walmart has to offer.
but i mean you made it yourself, so more power to you

i give him credit for doing it himself and not buying ebay crap, id rather see this than that. ya get points for trying, use the trim ring and paint it black and it will look good IMO, do your own thing and dont get discouraged
