Default Insurance claim. Sketchy

So i bought a used spec roof for 260 shipped and insured. I got the roof 3 days later broken. So a claim was filed with ups. The amount of insured was 700.00. So the seller is telling me that that he is going to refund me the 260 and he gets to keep the rest. That doesn't sound right. I should get the 700 to go towards a new roof. Right? Why dose the seller get anything? Sounds like a scam to me? any inputs? past experiences? words of advise? thanks

Well, if he tries to play that card, let him know that if he doesn't split it, you'll let ups know that he's pulling a scam.

its a low blow, but it'll get you an extra 200 bucks

the dealer wants 1,000 for a new roof. the 700 should go towards the new roof right? i mean thats what the insurance is for. He would be making off with 400. wtf right?

I don't understand why he's getting any money. I paid for the item, shipping and the insurance. Why is he getting anything?

He shouldnt get anything that is why it is probably a scam. You should tell him to give you money or file a claim with ups

yeah, but you paid only $250 for the roof, so why should you get 700 back?

doesnt this work as a return kind of policy? something happened so you get your money back

heres the deal, you paid for the roof and s&h AND THE INSURANCE POLICY! therefore YOU are intitled to the insurance money because if you didn't pay for it, then all you would have is a box of broken glass minus $260 dollars. the seller has his money that you paid for the roof, he sent the roof, you paid shipping and handling, and insurance for $700, it was broken, therefore you are intitled to the $700 you insured the shipment for, not the seller.

also, i doubt the guy broke it himself, i don't think ups would not notice they are picking up a box of broken glass. seriously.

Who is it you can pm if you don't want to put it on here. I think you should get all the money but on the ups site it says if the claim is filed by the shipper then they send the money to them. However since you paid for it you should get it

look, if the seller paid for the insurance on the roof, he would only be obligated to refund you the $260 dollars you paid, and he would get the $700 dollars in insurance money. but you paid for the insurance, so you get the $700, and he gets to keep your $260 alright? he is trying to take advantage of the situation by giving you your $260 back, and cashing in on the $700 policy that you paid for.

The SL member that sold me the roof is telling me he dose not owe me anything. He said he feels he dose not need to refund my $260.00 and UPS shipped him back the roof. He also says that UPS denied the insurance on the box. So it's making me think he never bought it. ecko04 is a scam artist, I wouldn't buy anything from this guy.!!!!!

Wow. This is some crazy situation. If they are denying insurance that means you should get your money back and he should deal with UPS himself.

If you get the $700 from the insurance, then you are entitled to that and he should not get one cent of it because he already got his money.
