Default License plate frame w/Clear cover ILLEGAL???

Ok, I have a Carbon fiber plate frame with a polycarbonate clear cover

I'm very hesitant in putting on my plate cover bc I'm not sure of the laws for that in FLORIDA.
Could someone with knowledge as to whether or not it's legal to my area let me know.

I've been trying to find out for at least a month and I'm getting frustrated.

I think anything other than a clear cover is technically illegal and can get you a ticket from a cop who's being an ****.

Basically, just don't do things to ____ off cops or do stupid things on the road, and you should be ok.

There are some cover that is definately illegal. It is the one where if you see it in an angle, it will blur out your license. You have to see it from the back. This is to get away from photo radar ticket.

I have a tinted cover and have gotten pulled over several times (from the panhandle to Miami) with it on and no has said anything. I've also been pulled over with dark tinted taillights and nothing was said.

AFAIK clear cover is 100% ok... I do believe I read that on the OC Sheriff's website.

But, anything like tinted or whatnot is technically illegal... although, like I said earlier, most Florida cops tend to be pretty laidback unless you're being a *****.

Regardless, though, I don't think it should come as any surprise that at tinted cover is illegal. It makes the plate harder to read, which defeats the purpose of the plate... so obviously police are going to have a problem with that.

my friend and i both have a lightly smoked cover for on our cars and he was pulled over one day for his tint (its 0%) and the cop gave him a $75 ticket for his license plate cover. i have the same one on my car and have never had any problems, i think he did because he has a jeep liberty and the plate is like in and below the bumper so its darker

In NY anything over the plate is illegal to include dirt and snow. plate must be 100% visible.

as long as your not "riding dirty" you should be straight I have had mine on since day 1, (for a year and a half) and I have never had a prob, if they do give you crap, you will only have to remove it, then just put it back on when you get home.
