Default lip kit and gray sealant

i have a SW tC and just got lip kit installed at dealer and although i didnt notice it nor did it bother me but my friend noticed the gray sealant between the bumper and lip kit and thought it looked a bit weird. started to bother me that they did something wrong but looked around pics here and the gray sealant seems to be a standard and not something my dealer body shop did wrong. it doesnt look too bad but it guess one could say it looks a bit more tacky in the rear lip

im curious if anyone has tried to make it look more seamless and how? or is this just normal for lip kits?

heres a couple of pics (~500kb each)

forgive the dirty SW, it was sleeting here in Dallas as i was driving it home!

i suppose you can try using touch-up paint to color match that gasket/sealant.

that hole in the bumper where the tow hook is, kinda makes the front end look like marilyn monroe with her big @$$ beauty mark

my friend was thinking of redoing it with a clear sealant but he wanted to know what the purpose of thats sealant is for. does anyone know if its just to keep water out? or does it actually hold the lip kit in place?

i just installed my oem kit yesterday. i found the sealant helps cover up some of the holes you drill in the bumpers to install the kit. without the sealant you can see some of the drill marks. it also covers up some of the minor gaps between the bumper and kit. makes it look flush. the sealant doesnt help attach the kit to the car.
