Default My RS1 vs. Jeep Cherokee (WARNING!!! pics are brutal..)

Well... Saturday was a very sad day... I was on my way home from a car show in pretty heavy traffic.. Moving about 30mph stop-and-go.. The lady in front of me must have been riding the person in front of her because she slammed on her brakes and I hit mine from about 2 car length's back.. but.... well the pictures will explain...

As you can see the damage is extremely bad..... I'll be going to get a price estimate tomorrow... The carbon fiber hood as you can see was not only cracked and bent backwards, but also split in half.... The passenger side fender was also bent in, so the door does not open properly and is scuffed and knicked... The upper grille was bent and pushed down, but we managed to pry that back up just to pop the hood up... The radiator is bent and probably cracked as well... I'm just praying that the chassy isn't bent in any way, or else they'll probably say its totalled....

thats alot of damage man. i hope everything turns out well for you. my suggestion to you is to start taking w/e is after market in case they tow it and say its unfixable. atleast that way you can still sell stuff off and get back what you put in

good luck

damn! It hurts me to see another TC, or matter of fact any nice car banged up. Hopefully insurance will cover it. That is one reason why I'm so paranoid driving to any major city during rush hour. You've got idiots who are usually paying more attention to their phone than the road.

Thanks guys.. insurance is covering everything.. I'm having the guy from the body shop I'm taking it to come look at it tomorrow just so he can get an estimate.. I'm actually just going to go basically entire aftermarket replacements instead of trying to get the stock parts... Stock parts are insanely expensive and will cost me more than aftermarket.. and yes! I do believe I might get cf fenders! the body shop I am working with is basically completely re-doing the car.. new body kit.. new fenders.. new headlights..(including the 15k HID kit that was smashed) I'll keep ya'll informed on progress..

I didn't know insurance covers it when you hit the car in front of you. I mean I know the circumstances and all, but I just thought that was the policy. I've come to several close stops. I don't tail people but when traffic comes to a halt, it can happen quick. Just the other day a poor lady in a black accord was right behind me when traffic came to a sudden stop. I didn't hit the guy in front of me nor did she hit me but she got hit by a white van, and the van that was following that van, and a truck that was following that van... it was scary... hope she's alright. Weird thing is, right when that happened traffic cleared up in the next 30 seconds.

Your insurance may not want to cover the non standard parts like the CF hood. They would replace to stock unless you had declared on the policy.

I've already spoken with my insurance company and I've nmade sure that all the parts that I put in will be replaced... And also, like I stated before the shop I am working with is going to basically be going through whatever parts I want, because I want all aftermarket parts instead of getting direct factory stock replacements..(stock is $$$$$$) and apparently this shop has some kind of service contract with my insurance that guarantees payment.. All the shop does is send them the bill no matter the cost.. so i'll update after the guy comes and sums it all up.
