any retrofitting at all is illegal, at least in California. So 4 highbeams wouldn't even matter. The cops won't notice the extra high beams but just the projectors.

Yeah, well..... don't expect the halogen projector to give the same output as HID projector. The reason why HID projector is more expensive is because they give wider light coverage and increase the intensity. While, halogen projector centralizes beam into a confine area, which is call hot spot. HID projector evenly distributes lights to the side of your car, hence, give you more visibility.

Retrofit is never cheap. In fact, I get a lot of requests for retrofit, but once they know how much it costs, they all vanished.... LOL. This retrofit, however, was done for a customer. Not me.

Although, i am planning on selling my 2nd retrofit and built myself a new retrofit.

crazy...

How much you selling your 2nd one for? (After looking, that setup isn't my style..)

If you say $1200, just call me Copperfield, and watch me vanish!

wow, that looks awesome!

you can only pull those from OEM BMW headlights right?

wouldn't it be nice if we can just get some ebay projector and retrofit that.

Yep. I must admit that 1200 is a bit pricey.

For the amount of labor that goes into a retrofit... I would stilll say 1200 is just spare change.

Several people PM me for pricing, I gave them all the same price, but I am not decisive yet. It could be higher, or it could be lower. didn't give it too much though. I have to finish my new retro first. So, I don't want to publicly quote any price right now.

Minus the labor/time. How much do retros cost if you already have a set of spare tC headlights?

This is for everyone who have their minds on retrofit:

[outside of labor]

projectors: 90 - 200 depending on the quality you want

shrouds: 50 - 130 depending on which you get. You also have an option of cusomizing your own. Despite the low part cost, you'll more labor to customize them.

ballasts: 150 - 200 depending on which type you want

bulbs: 35 - 80 depending on usage on the the bulbs. I highly recommend OEM bulbs and forget about the aftermarket junks.

Pretty expensive, but then again, HID headlights cost a fortune when dealers sell them. So, consider yourself to have luxurius option for low cost.

Which Ballasts do you suggest along with the bulbs. I found some TSX projectors and E46 shrouds I think I may buy. I'm sure then has been asked but what type of bulb does the TSX projectors use?

TSX uses D2S bulbs. You can either use E46 bixenon shrouds or single xenon shrouds. The bixenon shrouds have more depth than the single xenon, but in diameter, they're exactly the same.

I recommend the Denso, Hella, or the infiniti ballasts (forgot what is the name of the manufacturer). Aim for the higher generation.

The 08 tC's do not have projectors. They are projector style.

BTW, very nice retro. I'd love to have a set on my car, unfortunately I don't have the know-how to do it. I admire those who can.

???? what do you mean they're not projector, but they're projector style? Do you meant to say that the reflectors are small?
