New HID Retrofit - Pics inside-
OK, After a good three weeks of on and off work, It is finally completed.
these are E46 single xenon shroud. I purchased it with scratches. I painted it metallic silver and apply the non-transparent black oracal film over the edge. I also added some 3mm into the indented areas.
I apply this with the non-transparent black oracal film too, and put some 3mm leds into it. I tried to come up with some new design, but Maximus had the best design for the side piece. So I used his. However, I decided to put small piece of cotton infront of the leds. Leds emits light directionally. So, it will create glare when you look at it directly and the leds uneven because not all of them are point at the same direction. So addiing the cottons yield two accomplishments. 1) Diffuse the lights and alleviate glare. 2) The lights are lit up evenly from any view angle.
Here is how I mounted the TSX projector. I applied JB Weld to areas that do not have srews.
The high beam is a pain in the butt. First, I aimed and mounted them
Then, I tried the shroud.
I cut them and painted them. These fit perfection on the high beam hole of the housing, but it doesn't fit with the projector because the projector is too big.
Then, I tried this bezel. And still it doesn't fit.
As I walked around my house scratching my head, I found this.
Cut them out.
Apply the oracal film
And I have this. Not the best, but all that I can do now.
I purchased these housing caps in bulk and just run through them to see what fit my headlights
All retrofiters should know what this is? it is silica gel. It dehydrates the air. This should help out with the fogging if moisture somehow gets in.
Now that I identified my caps, I took off the caps and washed them while I baked the headlights and screwed them back together. Then, apply the silicone through the lips
AH, finally done!!!!!
Low Beam Cut-off
Low and High Beam Cut-off
Here are some of the day time images. The sun was really bright today, so you might see some reflection of the background that makes it difficult to make out the headlights.
That strip was actually a reflection of a light pole. I was misunderstanding that it was a lose wire.

looking good! Couple questions tho.
1.) On this one...
why didnt you mount it to the back of the reflector plate? Did you cut too much of it? I looks all wack but then secure at the same time. Im hopeing you dont have any vibrations with it?
2.) on the projectors did you use the washer mod to get more color?
3.) why did you want a bi-xenon for the high beams? Do you use your high beams alot?
Overall looks really clean and good!

Also to answer Yanki01 questions, I forgot to mention that the highbeam is from VW Touareg. It uses H7, not HID. I did use a washer to get that purple line. I used JB Weld on the spots that do not have screw. They are pretty stable. I don't think vibration can do it harm.

i guess all these projectors are fragile and different when you mess with the spacing cause i currently have 3 washers on the bottom nipples and 1 on top and i got an amazing color with a sweet a$$ cutoff. The TSX are not known for their cutoffs but i guess i got lucky and got a good one!

ok you need a night shot of them all on the car and away with those LED's.. Looks pretty good.. As for the dehydration packs, YES all retro guys should use these. My MAXIMA HID's that i took apart had about 2-3 big packs.. you might be able to get them in that size. the bigger they are the better.
Good pics, and that pic of that guy or what ever it was is kinda freaky bro.. lol.. at least the story..
Also i am glad you are doing a retro WITH the HID, instead of some of the other who use HID's in the stock housing... I will never understand what gets them to think that its cool or showy, it plain ignorant...
