Default Paint remover/stripper for plastic?

What industrial strength paint remover are there that is safe for plastic?

I want to redo my tinted tail lights, rubbing alcohol actually made it worst, (applied a little to clean up any dirt and greasy during prep to redo the lights) and made it all nasty and got parts of the tint off but ya..is there any you guys know of that will get the job done, on plastic?

thanks

i tinted and untinted the tails on my cadillac 3 or 4 times.
each time i re-did them i just wetsanded the old tint off.
takes a little time but at least you know nothing will melt.

denatured alcohol is lil safer to work with compared to acetone and you'll get the same results

I did try to just sand the old tint off, I only sand enough down to retint, so when I clean the surface with alcohol (because i got grease on it) it pretty much broke into the VHT tint and made it all sticky...so ya...I pretty much just smoothed it out dry and redid it..now its too dark and ya.
