PIAA Super Silicone Wipers

PIAA Super Silicone Wipers
I couldn't find this information when I needed replacement wipers, so I'm posting it here for reference. Maybe it will save someone some money.
My original wipers were worn out, and I needed to replace them, and I thought I'd try a 'premium' wiper. It seems that these days everyone wants to sell the entire blade, not just the refills. Of course, the entire blade costs significantly more than just the refills. Even if you can find just the refills, there are several types of configurations, so it is hard to tell if a 'premium' refill will fit the OEM blades. And the wiper manufacturers aren't going to tell you, because they make money by selling the entire blade.
I had read good things about PIAA's Super Silicone wipers. I found that the refills can be ordered online (ajusa.com or autobarn.com). I decided to order both a set of blades and a set of refills. It turns out that the refills fit the OEM blades perfectly, and that the PIAA blades don't appear to be of any higher quality than OEM.
So, if you want to try the PIAAs, you can just order the refills and save $25 or so. Eventually, blades do wear and get loose, and can get noisy, but IMO they don't need to be replaced every time the rubber needs replacing. The only difference is that you won't get the windshield treatment packet with the refills, which is a silicone and alcohol solution that you rub on the windshield. I soaked a paper towel in high strength isopropyl alcohol and sprayed a bit of silicone spray on top of that, and rubbed that around, then removed the extra residue after it dried. This may be completely unnecessary.
The PIAA wiper numbers are 82 for the driver's side (26") and 5 for the passenger's (16").
I just installed them a few days ago, and it hasn't rained, so I can't comment on their effectiveness. I'll report back later.

Good post.
PIAA wipers--the metal replacement part--are junk. They're made to wear out fast, and they're nice while they last... But the pair I took off my tC were rusting.
Doesn't seem like a high quality wiper assembly to me.
You can also get some nice wiper off Cardomain.com.

i have installed the new bracketless bosch icon wipers -- sleek look, and excellent cleaning/wiping.
referring to their application guide, they don't even list Scions. i just used the standard wiper sizes for the tC

i switched to them at the tail end of winter -- so, only mild slushy snow stuff. but, they worked great.
as for application # for the scion -- there is none listed on their application guide.
i just grabbed the 26" and a 16" sized blades. very simple installation.
i even loosened and lowered the wiper arms after i installed the icons, for an even more incognito look to them.
again, great blades -- worth the price.

Just alittle heads up for those people who wish to get the Bosch Icon wipers and do not know which part number they are.
For those confused about which blade numbers are for the TC it is these:
426A <---Drivers Side
416A <---Passenger Side

Oh god.
Well, I've been trying to trade out my Aveo's for Bosch Icon blades.
I ordered a pair off Amazon on the 15th.
They still aren't here, and Amazon is in the process of refunding my money. Murray's Auto, who sold me the blades on Amazon, hasn't responded to emails.
I've been to two auto part stores out here, and NO ONE has the 16" blade.
Does anyone know where to get Bosch Icon blades online, besides Amazon?

They're worth $26.00 a blade.
I've had my Bosch Icons since a little while after my last post in this thread... Which was a while ago.
I'm turning off "Email me when another reply is made!" :p
