my choices were:
stock bumper: $230 plus shipping
plus cost of professional repair/replace job: $400+
OR
Full KGS Kaminari body kit: $155 plus shipping
paint: 30 to 40 bucks, clear coat: $80
free labor... but i told my bud if it comes out lookin' clean i'd hook em up with 300 bucks of Audiobahn subs. They just sit in my closet collecting dust so its a good trade.
Most of all, when its done, I get the Kaminari "look" over a stock "look"
I think i made a good choice (and i saved a lot of money)
...hehe, most of all, i had an excuse to buy a body kit!

...From what i heard, its a knock off like mine, but i think it looks killer!

Right it all depends on the installer. I mean initial fitment. The authentic kit is one of the best fitting aftermarket kits out there. With most cheap kits, you gotta spend alot of money on at a good body shop because they need to do alot of work to get the kit to fit well. There are ofcourse the people who cheap out on the kit, then cheap out on the body work. End result sucks.
Basically its a game of compromises. Spend more money on the kit, less on the body work. Spend less money on the kit, more on the body work. Even though im totally for authentic kits, the truth of the matter is that its all totally subjective. It really depends on a number of circumstances which would cause you to make the purchasing decision you did. In the end, it might still come out to less than an authentic kit and still look just as well, but overall no body kit will effect the safety or drive ability of your car.
Now if you wanted to cheap out on performance parts, then I would want to beat you over the head with a metal object lol.

The thing is Kaminari is real low to the ground. Be careful when you scrape so you don't shatter the kit. It looks real thin. I have authentic Kaminari side skirts that are fiberglass (1st edition) And I had a small crack and it went through from front to end. I had to grind all that down and replace it with fiberglass. I hope I'm ok :\.

I had to use the Diamond tip off a dremel and I had my bumper off using it as the pattern. Because its fiberglass it was messy and itchy as poo. I do not recommend the same people I used cause they actually did the final fitment worse then I had it and they got the color off by a good bit. It was a headache to me. I had the front and sides too but because of my drive way i couldn't put them on. The black retaning clips that are on the car already are made for a thinner material, be careful with that.

I been thinking about getting this kit for a while.. i dont mind saving few hundred bucks and even if it has a different look, thats fine with me. afterall, thats what an aftermarket body kit is for, a different look. And as far as fitment goes, all you need is some tools and take your time and anything can come out clean

... I'm sure "Kaminari" are happy with their bank account by now. "KGS Engineering" makes me happy with mine. ^.^
