Puddle Lamp Install

Puddle Lamp Install
Here is the Long awaited write up on how to install
Illumina™ Puddle Lamp System by Jlevi SW.
Note:This is a universal kit that needs to be modified for mounting on the tC.
This is not an install for a first time do it yourselfer.
First step:
Cut the wires right in the Middle. Five lights on one side 5 on the other.
The wire that is supposed to take the lights from one side to the other is to short for the tC.
So we cut it in half andd connectors to the ends. We now have 2 seperate rows of lights.
I decided to leave a little extra wire on the last light on the drivers side in case I decide to add some LED tubes for the back bumper.
Tape it up for future use.
Lifting the car.
My car is really low so we needed to get it up on stands to be able to work under it.
Most tC's will probably need to do the same.
Connecting the lights
Here is the diagram on how the connections are done for those of you that don't figure it out from the picture.
After the connectors are done test them before running the wire to make sure evrything works the way you want it.
Here is where you hook them up.
You can find this to the left of the steering wheel when you pop open the panel where the fuses are. Red is Positive, Blue is negative.
The lamp wires are not marked so you need to figure out which is which.
See the extra connector. That is so that you can hook up the other row of lights. (Remember first step we cut them in half.)
Now that everything is working disconect it all because it is time to run the wires!
You can run the wires from the outside in going up in between the side skirts.
then up thru this crack. and in thru this boot. You must make a small hole to run the wire in. (make the hole in the back of the boot for a clean install.
Do the same for the passenger side, and run those wires all the way to the driver side where everything will be connected.
Once all the wires are run into the car you should be looking like this.
Now it is time to mount the lights under the car.
The lights came mounted on aluminum brackets with double sided 3M tape.
For the tC these brackets don't seem to work well, and the tape didn't seem strong enough.
First we tried cutting the brackets to make them fit.
Didn't work so we removed the brakets and the tape leaving the lights looking like this.
Tried mounting them with emblem and trim adhesive, but didnt trust it.
Finally we decided to screw them in.
You need tiny screws that wont bust the plastic.
Run over to the hardware store and pick up 23 at .06 cents a piece. (3 extra just in case)
NOTE: the screws will not go all the way in to the metal. They are just holding the the lights into the plastic under the car.
Which plastic you ask?
This channel right here just behind the side skirts.
screw them all in and make sure they are straight.
Get the garage dark and BAMN!
Instant sexyness!
check to see if the lights are straight and adjust as needed.
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.
These things look great.

Well, I have to hand it to ya, good job.
-When exactly do they come on, go off?
-Does the unlock on the key do it?
-Do they fade on/off or is it more instant?
Thanks for your efforts and if I were Jlevi, I'd be more than greatful.

great right up!!
that should be enough to get a refund.
but could you explain the wiring in little more detail?
i'm not really good with them, but i'm willing to try with instructions.
and can you post a picture from the side ?

Thank you so much for the writeup. Please call or email us, so we can refund you
Great job. Also, please ellaborate a little bit on both the wiring and the routing of the wire from the inside to the outside? Thanks so much!

fix your how to.
first few posts you said red is positive and blue negitive
The picture 2 posts up says red negitive and blue positive.
Is the red wire the signal wire to from the dome light? How are you making them turn on and off with the dome light?
