i didnt use the brackets that came with the lights. i knew that the light wouldnt point straight down, making an ellipse, instead of a circle (wut i wanted). SOoo after a couple of minutes of thinking, my friend and i thought about using VELCRO! not just any plain Velcro, it was industrial grade, SUPER STRONG.

bought it at home depot, got a huge roll tho ($30). u can also use it to mount amps or wutever. great stuff. and u can position the lights ANYWHERE.

ive had my lights for almost a month and still on. very hard to take a light off of the velcro.

oh and i mounted the rough, hook side of the velcro to the car, and the soft part to the light and stuck it on.

I read through this thread but didn't read anyone for sure about the shortness of the passenger side wirings? Did this install add more wire to the passenger side? Someone said they were definitely long enough.

Hey guys. I tried installing mine today and ran into a few problems. I extended the passenger side with some wire that I got from circuit city and solder. Does it matter what kind of wires they are? Im not the best solderer but I think the connection was good enough to pass the current. The drivers side worked fine. Can I put both of the wires into one T-tap [vampire clip] instead of using two?

sorry if this isnt the most clear explaination in the world. lol im kinda tired. haha

hmm, im not too sure about using the t-tap. im pretty sure it would work tho. what i did to wire the passenger side was i cut the puddle lamps in half having 5 on each side. then i lengthend each lamp by soldering and heat shrinking. THen i took velcro, some super duty kind from home depot, and equally placed the hook side on the lil channel under the side skirts. then i mounted the furry side of the velcro on the lamp itself. with the wires i tucked them in between the gap of the chasis and the lil channel. To wire the driver side into the cabin, i pulled off the rubber grommet under the car,its right under the drivers side carpet. then i just pulled it thru into the cabin. make sure if u do this to put some electrical tape or foam to insulate the wire when putting the grommet back cuz ur pulling the wire thru the actual metal so it might cut the wire (sharp?). For the passenger side i did the same and just routed the wire along the back side of the dash by lengthing it with an additional 8-10 feet of wire, and just connected it up!

i did a rather complicated wiring job tho with a whole bunch of relays and wut not. my setup is wen i unlock my car, the dome lights go on, and wen the dome lights go on my lamps also fade on with it, same wen the lights go off. but i also made it so that once im driving and the dome lights are off, i can switch the lamps on and off with a toggle switch. i can try to take a pic of the wiring diagram. I think i used to many relays and can simplify it, but im only 17 years old not a double E major.

sorry for dead thread but just a quick question about how you've wired into the knee fusebox

What type of connector is being used on 12v power source (red wire connected to the fuse box) and where might I be able to find one?
My local advance auto parts didn't have it (at least when I went there today).

A link to something would be great. Im thinking something like this? http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_TERMINAL-DOUBLE-CRIMP-Dorman_5760039-P_N3067_A|GRP2020A____

Thanks

thanks. this really help. my kit came with the remote and it works also, but it requires to unlock the door before I can use the remote to turn the light on. i wonder if you know another way to connect the wire without need to unlock the door to make the light on. also, i saw you added another black cable in the box. wonder what that is.
