I don't know why anyone cares what the law is. Anyone who is into modding cars should have multiple violations. I have at least 6 or 7.

Yes, yes I am.

Look, if you design your car to conform with the law then you're not going to be happy with it. You wanna make the cops happy or do you wanna make yourself happy?

I've noticed that if you drive during the day with the moonroof shades open it takes away from how dark the tint looks. But since you got your roof tinted too, I dont think it will help. Might be worth a shot to avoid tickets. Police in this area dont seem to care too much unless you are doign something else and then they tack the tint ticket onto the other offense.

i think i am going to get Dark in the back and Med in the front.
As far as legal issues, is it okay to tint as dark as you want in the back? i know the front is none at all.
also, would Limo in the back and med in the front look cool?
thanks
In California, the law is no tinting for the windshield, up to 70% of light (meaning it can be darker by 30%) has to be allowed on the front side windows, and any percentage of darkness you want in the back. Mine is no windshield, 50% front side windows and 4% visibility the rest. I wanted 0% but the shop I went to doesn't have it; 4% is close enough. So I guess it's limo shade in the back and medium in the front; and it looks cool IMO. If you want photos let me know. Check tintlaws.com.
Wrong.
You can't tint the front side windows or the windshield.
Back two and the hatch.
That's it.
Check your sources. I have check multiple places and everywhere it says in California, 70% is the legal limit for front side windows. My tint shop also says so. Also here are my pics:

There is a good enough different between 50% front and 4% back to make it look good IMO.

Why would you even want to tint your winshield? I have a hard enough time seeing out of the car as it is, and even the slightest little bubble would annoy the crap outta me.

my xa didnt come with that sun visor thing that dims the sunlight at the top so i put a 4 inch strip of 5% tint at the top. looks sharp.

Wow.. that looks fscking amazing! Perfect amount IMO, except I might go a bit lighter on the back windows just because.

My sources are the CALI vehicle code, Mr. Badass.

Because it makes it about 400 times easier to drive in the California sun. You know when the sun is going down and its get hard to look at the horizon? Well that doesn't happen to me anymore. You know when you get glare from the sun reflecting off of other cars' bumpers and rear windows? That doesn't happen to me anymore either. You know at night when other drivers have bright lights or have their lights aimed too high and you get temporarily blinded? Well that doesn't happen to me anymore.

I had the windshield tinted on my last car for 3 years and I never had a problem. The cops don't look for tinted windshields because it's so rare to find one, and also because some cars look like they have tinted glass just because of the angle of the windsield (look at the Acura TL), so it's hard to tell from the outside. I will never ever drive without a tinted windshield.

That's not my car, but I'm pretty sure those are the stock tC 08 tails.

I had a GTO that had the dot matrix on it. The tint place i used simply stopped the tint at the edge of the biggest portion on the dots on the back glass, and then after the tint had dried out, I went back and got a strip of black vinyl over them that made the back glass from outside look seemless. I still had the issue with it not stickin well on the side windows, but Ive thought about maybe getting some vinyl cut out to match the shape of the windows to eliminate the problem whereever it might be.

Im in Cali and I had limo tint and i liked it a lot until the 5-0 gave me a tiket for it. its $10 fix it ticket if you remove it. or you can do what my buddy did and once you get a ticket for limo in the front you can go back and have another layer of limo put on and have double limo all the way arround and limo in the front...but driving at night is skechy....he drove with his head out the window haha....but it looks good.

The $10 ticket is a joke. I got the same thing. Maybe if there was a real penalty then people wouldn't break the tint laws all the time.
