Default Rear Foglight Anyone?

I've been toying with this idea for a while.. I've been wanting to get a rear foglight for my rear bumper.. Has anyone else thought of this? I was going to use a EDM Civic rear foglight at first, but then I noticed the xB2's reverse light and wondered if it'd look nice painted red and placed in the same location on our bumper

i thought about the european Honda rear foglight last year, but decided against it. The Honda rear foglight is too square/boxy, while the tC is too round. I dont think the foglight will match the shape of the car.

The xB2 reverse light wont work since the xB's rear bumper is molded to fit around the light. If you cut a circle in the tC's bumper, the edges will look nasty. Also how will you mount it? The Honda foglight's bezel also works as the mounting bracket.

Whats the point in rear fog lights? I could see them on trucks or something you hook a hitch to.

in europe they serve 2 purposes:
1. on very foggy days, it lets people behind you know youre there
2. when youre parked on the street, it stays lit so cars driving by know youre there. the light is supposed to be on the driver's side (left or right hand drive). on super foggy days & nights, people can leave the light on when they park, lock, and walk away from the car.

from my VW ownership days I also learned:
-europe doesnt have the amount of street lights like the USA, so rear foglights allow other drivers to see your car.
-US headlights have more glare than Euro counterparts because that glare helps illuminate reflective road signs.

most european made cars have the rear foglight integrated in the taillights. US and Japanese cars sold in Europe typically have an extra light put into the bumper like the honda above.
so rear fog lights in the US are more for show. theyre a very common mod for Euro owners (I had it on my GTI, A4, and Passat), and some Honda guys use Euro-spec rear fog lights.

The car on the right has the rear fog light on. The other cars dont.

The new Rabbit/GTI (euro models) uses the driver's side reverse light as the rear fog.

These guys all rewired their taillights and used the OEM European model light switch.

I was going to go with it when I had my civic, but I dont see the point in having this on a tC. It wasnt factory, it was an option and its not needed in the states... The reason why I was going to on my civic, is because Honda made them for your car... But I guess, if you want to cut up your bumper, be my guest!

not a dumb idea, just pointless.

The UK S14 200SX (aka 240sx in America) had the worst rear fog light add-on.
It did come with a rear window wiper.
