Default removing and re-applying rear emblem

So i wanna black out the rear Scion emblem on the trunk handle. I can get it off but after i paint it i was wondering how you re-apply it. Do you just heat it to melt the glue again and just stick it back on??

yep go hit up home depot or lowes, look for a small roll of exterior 3M double sided adhesive tape, in a red box. the tape looks red as well but is actually dark grey when you remove the protecting film.

stuff works great!

How do you remove the rear emblem? It doesnt look like you can fit some fishing line in between since the emblem is kind of embeded in the garnish... the only way I can see would be to use a small screwdriver but I dont wanna scratch up the paint, anyone have any tips>?

Heat up your emblem with a hair dryer. Once heated, the adhesive will be more pliable to work with and enable the floss to 'cut' through it. Just be aware that there are alignment pins on the emblem. (Thus leaving holes on the naked garnish.) IIRC, the pins are located at 10 & 4'o clock. GL.

you can re-apply it with 3m tape, or if you go to an auto body supplies store, they will have stuff for the emblem. It pretty much like the 3m tape but thinner.

Super glue will only dry out and crack. Flake off, and then there won't be an emblem

^ the 3M stuff i suggested is the same stuff they use to hold on bumper fascias, lip spoilers and side skirts/front lips. it's incredibly sticky and durable....not to mention waterproof and can withstand extreme heat. superglue can't
