Default Scion tC 2006 Sun Roof maintenance

Should i be using some sort of grease or oil on those moving parts? i see when i use the sun roofs there is some resistance when opening or closing.

I can't seem to find the link, but there was a thread that discussed the process of cleaning the tracks and afterwards using a DRY silicone clear spray to lubricate it. It's the same kind of dry silicone used on vinyl sliding windows.

I personally haven't tried it, but I probably should since mine has a little resistance as well.

I use Dupont Teflon multi purpose spray lube. Blue can. Great stuff

I also use that to lube the chain on my motorcycle

I'm late to posting but my recommendation is DRY silicone, with no petroleum distillates in the ingredients. Those distillates will each the rubber away, not a good idea. that's why dry silicone is better..

yeah Toyota would recommend the silicone that doesn't have any petroleum distillates in it.. Don't need to destroy seals unnecessarily. Every time I've seen Toyota recommend something it's usually a 3M product. If you can find a dry silicone without petro distillates in in from 3m, there's your choice.

I did look and I TAKE BACK MY RECOMMENDATION of 3m's dry silicone spray!! Right there in the MSDS is "petroleum distillates". Forget that. I remembered Honda has grease they use.. Shin Etsu grease is the name, comes in a tube you spread on the weatherstripping works really well from what I hear. And yes it's pure silicone, I was able to check that.
