Wow! This post concerning an honest question got out of hand overnight. It's really disappointing. We all have the same interest and obviously cars, but we still have our individuality and rightfully so. I agree with the moderator in that if you don't have an inteligent reply actually concerning the question then don't waste the persons time. Worry about your own cars purple headlights.

Not sure how accurate whitej47 comment is. I work at a high end restoration shop and haven't even heard of a "fiberglass flap patch??" Anyway no one suggested having a "noob" shave your door handles. But anyone that actually knows anything about welding sheet metal would know the proper way to complete the job with minimal to no warpage.

As for kits, I know Autoloc has a few popper/solenoid kits for the Tc. Heres just one link.

Good luck and don't let anyone talk you out of what you want to do to the car your paying for.

not sure what your gauges read either, but i hope they're useful, if not, add that to the list.
Says the guy with 7000K purple Headlight Bulbs
who's that? oh, you mean my past ride - a 94 celica. had trouble finding rice on my tc? lol. feel free to bash that one all you want. the lights were white with a slight blue tint, btw. i dont know where you got purple from - that would be roughly 12000k, idiot.

again, dont know where the purple headlights come into play here but all these painted interior trim guys are getting out of hand.

LMAO... If its a something done for show, I'd say that's more custom then like 90% of the cars at a show...

I mean how does slapping a intake and exhaust make it a custom car... Especially when it's something that is mass produced...

Anyways to each there own, if he likes it, cool...

if someone is concerned with dead battery after the handles are gone, custom fab an emergency plan like running a set of secondary wires coming from the window motor and have a secret location with a key locked box that has a 12 volt battery hookup, tada roll down the window, or just get a CF/fiberglass hood since you obviously have money to burn and put key locked hood pins in it so you dont need the latch for the hood and get access to the battery, i still wanna see this mod done even though i would never

I had my xB shaved all around and it was a daily driven car.. As long as its done right and dont cheap out on the poppers and equipment you should be fine.

I had Door pop for all doors as well as auto roll down on the windows tied into my alarm system. If the doors failed I could roll down my windows to get in, if the battery failed I had a back up to get in. Never had an issue with them though.. Autoloc makes some great kits

How much did it cost you? And what happened to your xB...did you traded it in for the tC?

you should shave the door handle recess (the gap behind the door handle) as demonstrated by the VWs below.

it belongs to a local guy (kinda, Jacksonville Fl) hes in his mid 60s, he bout the car painted and kitted, but he shaved the doors, stereo install and turbo install himself... he also has a bagged and kitted xB, i think the tC is his "show" car and the xB is his DD.

for his back up he ran a set of battery terminals to the driverside wheel well, so he just turns the wheel to the right every time he parks so he can get to them if needed.

no, the wheels are the worse part of the car, they are 3 piece so he likes em cuz he wasted a lot of money on em. and its an 18"XXX sub, so im not really a fan of the stereo either, but the kit install and doors were done perfectly.

i don't get it. if people want to do it and ask a question about it, what's the big deal. it's their car, you guys aren't the ones paying for it. shut your traps if you don't have useful input. this wasn't thread wasn't made for opinions, he just wanted help with a project.

unfortunately, i have no help either. just wanted to rant ;)

You don't have to have poppers, FYI. I my daily driver before my xB was shaved. I never had a popper, never had relays, etc. Thus, never having any problems with not having power.

It's an old hot rod secret.

Oh yeah, the truck's still driven daily and no poppers have been installed. They're unneeded, IMO.
