ehh there most likely illegal in most states. I know they're illegal here in NY but i rocked them all summer with no issues. some minor looks but no pull overs.

In CA, they must be visible from 300 ft away and you must have some type of red reflector in the back.

Every state laws are different.... heck even every counties have different takes on it. Your best bet would be to go to your local police station or court house and ask.

Illegal here in WA. Our RCW prohibits any type of cover, tint, or film on the OUTSIDE of the lens, which I guess also includes eyelids

I read somewhere in the National Traffic Safety Code, err whatever it is, it is also prohibited to alter the outside of the lens.

I agree, check with your local PD, if possible get it in writing that you are street legal and drive safely!

Whats up tcnoob, I was wondering the same thing. I was thinking about buy some tint and putting it on the tail lights and the tbl.

I dont think the cops around here are as strickt about that stuff. I've seen people braking the speed limit big time when cops were around. I hardly see people pulled over for other big time offences either......def a good thing though.

Could i use regular window tint for the tails?

Great thing about my Overlays is that the light and reflectors are still quite visible from a distance, and this is with my darker tint .

damn, they followed you home... wtf. seems like they had nothing better to do.

when i went and asked (about 3 years ago), the local pd was very nice and explained to me the law. they were actually impressed that i went and asked.

i had mine for about 6 months, no problems. I even had cops follow right behind me too.

But I did get pulled over like 2 months ago in dc and he slapped me with a fixit ticket

really depends on the cops tho

If you are concerned about legality a good place to start is with your area's vehicle inspection laws. The regulations do vary and of course the interpretations of them varies ever more. If you ask the police it mod XYZ legal they will most likely say no, no matter what it is...

Generally speaking our Smoked Taillight kits do not look significantly dimmer at night, no matter which of the three shades are installed.

At least you can peel them off if push comes to shove, something you can't do if you paint them.

here is wyoming you have to be able to see your tails from 100ft away so you could dark black without them being able to really harass you. but u could still get the cop who had a bad day and try to write you a ticket

must be visible from 150 ft here mine are dark as eff have cops behind me al the time never been pulled over for it.. headlights on the other hand they are pretty hard those

and if u paint them comes off easy with laquer thinner the stick on ones never look that good always kinda dull and a real bear to get on right creases in the corners too

plus if u paint em u can wax em and polish em just like ur cars paint
