Hey guys, i got my girlfriend into car modding and she wants to get her rims painted on her e46 bmw, my friend who works at a body shop said hell do the rims with dupont spray cans, she wants Gloss black.... and wants it extremely glossy and shiny, shes kinda OCD about that lmao. Question is do you think its possible the spray cans can be as shiny as someone that would use an actual paint gun? Anyone have pics of their gloss black painted rims so i can see?

Don't really agree with this. I used rattle can on my 4x4 that I take offroad almost 2 years ago. No chipping or damage. Minor surface scratches from trail debris.
Rattle can will get the job done. Proper prep and good painting technique it'll work out great. Some clear coat will help with that shine. Proper paint cleaning and preservation will help keep that luster.

I would take it from a paint professional who suggests using spray cans that it'll work....My rims look great-and I paid 20 bones for the whole deal.

ya my friend who works at a shop wants to do the dupont spray paint.. he said hes gona wet sand alot and do a good amount of coating and clearing.. hes pretty confident that the can will look just as good as a spray gun.. i would just go get powdercoated but she doesnt wanna drop 4+ bills... hes charging us 180 for the canning saying itll take about almost all day with the proper prepping and what not

Glossy paint is glossy paint. To get the most shine, the proper prep work needs to be done. If your boy works at a body shop, let him do it. If he's doing it right, he'll sand-blast the wheels, primer it, layer some paint, wet sand with 2000grit, paint again, wet sand, paint, clear clear - final buff.
