May I suggest using a UV filter and polarizer over the lens. It will take you down a few stops but u can just adjust with a slower shutter speed or higher ISO. Also I would do a little flash since u are shooting kinda toward the sun so that the grill will be lightened back up so u can see it and it doesn't just kinda fade away.

how well does the VRD's fit with a CAI setup? Cause i saw a picture of a CAI setup that comes right down to that vent basically.
