Default Sunroof Whistles + Wont Close

When I go 40+ I get a annoying whistling noise from the sun roof but it looks closed all the way to me. And when I try to close it sometimes it just jerks back when i get to the halfway point. Anyone know how to fix this?

I have had the closing problem a few times. I just turn off the car take out the key then restart and close. I would take it to the dealer but there million dollar response to everything is "Gee we couldn't duplicate the problem".

the molding right in front of the deflector could be causing the whistle...

and as far as difficulty in closing it... the rails might just need some lube.

HA- that is their solution to every return.
Well i also had the same two problems
the whistle and the closing prob.
What i did was disconect my black cable from my battery and programd all my windows all over. It stopd the whisltle prob and reduced the closing half way prob. So now when it acts stupid i just hold the front flap of the sunroof down while closing the actually sunroof.

Try disconnecting your battery and reconnecting it (make sure to let your car idle for a few minutes after you reconnect it too), then reset the sunroof. There are instructions here on SL (search) and probably in your owner's manual on how to do it. You'll have to reset your windows also... but my sunroof closes better now after I had my battery disconnected from installing my system. Could fix both issues... don't know but worth a try.

you could try the dealer anyway, it wouldnt hurt

i took my 05 into the dealer a few weeks ago, they fixed the infamous hatch rattle and similar problems with my moonroof

they had it fixed within a day, and they are sending me a scion backpack because they felt sorry they had to fix my car

i guess im just blessed with a good dealer

I brought my car to the dealer 3 times for this problem, once, it happened right in front of them, but they were closing, and I couldn't leave my car there... when I brought it back.. no duplication...
When I brought it a 3rd time, 1 week after the last time I tried opening it and it didn't work, they couldn't duplicate it, when I picked up my car (had oil change and other stuff done) I tried my sunroof, and it happened again, couldn't close...

I whipped around into the drive-in bay... and the problem is documented, whether or not they duplicate it tomorrow morning its getting fixed.

Oh, and they disconnected some wires, reset some stuff and it didn't work..
