Default Taking off Muffler/StraightPiping

Hey guys, what advice do you have for taking off the muffler and welding a straight pipe to the tip?

I have a 06' Scion, and i imagine you guys know that it has a awfully big filter in the back. So i was planning on unbolting it and welding a straight pipe.

What do you guys think? Thanks!

just buy a axle back straight through muffler, unbolt stock, bolt new muffler right up,no need to weld,or cut unless your doing custom work

has nothing to do with the engine, all its gonna do is let the car breath a lil better, and be a lil louder....a full exhaust is what you want....

he wants a tip,so i told him,you want just a muffler,i told him just get a axle back exhaust, easy to install,he thought he can buy a axle back for the scion at the local store,i told him you have to buy it online unless your buying just a muffler, and get it custom welded on,im not sure if he knows what hes asking are confused about the exhaust

Hey guys i bought a exhaust system and got it welded on. My car sounds so deep and good. Thanks for helping me!

Btw the exhaust and installment was only 80 dollars, i got it in the hood haha.

And this weekend i'm having the catalytic converter cut out and having a straight pipe welded on for $20. Just to add more sound to it

Thanks again!

my 07 tc has a straight pipe, i took off the stock had the muffler shop get a flange and weld that to the pipe then put on a stock like magnaflow tip, so i can unbolt it later and put the stock back on if i need too, no muffler, it sounds great, looks stock. perfect

you should of just got a exhaust system thats made for the car, thats 2.5 piping, thats a bolt on and go system,no welding required,if you want louder, taking out the cat wont do much, cause you still have the resonator, which is made to kill the sound, not the cat, plus you want 2.5 inch piping to make the care louder, from the s-pipe to the rear, then ill be a full tru exhaust, doing all this might as well get a exhaust thats made for the car, just saying

trd is way too expensive, and its the same size piping as factory, eventually im gonna get a full system, this was just a temp sound improvement, it sounds amazing.

^Yes, unfortunately the TRD has the same diameter pipe as OEM, which has made bolting it up a bit of a hassle for me to the Agency Power mid pipe with it's oversize gasket.

It has a nice and deep sound i would say a 6.

I'm taking off the resonator and catalytic converter, and adding straight pipes. And that should really make it loud.

yeah i would say about a 6, its louder then trd, but u cant hear it at idle, and a full system straight pipe you will lose all your back pressure, an axleback straight pipe is not enough to lose back pressure but if u take off your cat and resonator your car will lose power, and you will get pulled over by the police lol

If you cut out the cat and resonator, your car is going to sound like every craptastic honda civic in the world. There will be so much rasp, your ears will probably bleed.(I tried it. I left the shop, and turned around after 3 blocks to have it put back in. I couldn't THINK with the windows up cruising at 55.)

Seriously, if it sounds good, leave it as it.

Yeah guys you're right. I'm having headers installed soon, so i figured it would be best to have the res and cat stay put to cope with the raspiness of the headers. Thanks!

I'm thinking about Megan Racing headers.
