My tc was parked outside for about three hours in mild, Chicago, April weather. I returned to my car to find that the deflector was raised and the sunroof was entirely shattered. The "legs" of the deflector appeared to have broken through the glass, and the sunroof was very clearly stressed, cracked, and broken all along its four edges. I hadn't used the sunroof prior to parking my car that morning. Others have mentioned hearing loud pops before their sunroofs shattered while driving, and I do also recall hearing a very loud pop while driving, but probably a half hour or so before I parked my car. My sunroof wasn't shattered until sometime after I parked my car.

 

I've heard of Mini sunroofs exploding for no apparent reason. Definitely strange.
