ok so here the update i promised... sorry i needed my camera for something else so havent had time to get pics up but the project is moving..
first up im shaving the rear hole and outter ridge to begin cleaning the valve cover and making it super smooth and removing bolts/holes/ things i dont need to make it look nicer.
heres 1 tool... quick set.. its rated for 500 degrees and is basically jbweld in a tube. I searched locally for tech steel which is something i was recommended but i also made a few phone calls to some friends who have used this stuff and they say it worked for them...
next step was to plug the hole #1..
a little bit of grinding with the dremel...
more grinding ...almost flush.
and once it got down pretty low i used 400 grit wet sand paper and smoothed it out so it all 100% flush... all shaved.. and ready to move on to the next section!!
it looks un even were the quick set it but trust me is spot on.. i placed the sandpaper on a flash hard plastic surface that was level to make sure the metal and quick set stayed level.
... that all for now.. more pics and more progress coming soon!

Pete check the Alumaloy stuff for fixing aluminum.......it really does work and would be perfect for filling in the holes, over time the JB weld will separate and move as it expands differant than the magnesium........used the Alumaloy on a set of Ford valve covers and the repair was flawless.
