Default Thinking of upgrading to HID...what's the best?

I've never really messed around with upgrading any lighting...I'm more of an American Muscle guy myself and only really cared about upgrading the power. My wife goes out and buys a 2006 Scion TC and wants HID's...so here I am asking about the best brand and recommended color? My wife's tc is flint mica and she wants a slight blue tint to the light but very very slight...is 12000k the color we want? Any danger to the stock electrical system if we go HID? Is blue illegal in most states? I'm open to all suggestions or recommendations. Thanks in advance.

Go with ddm tuning you cant go wrong with them. If you want a blue tint to it I would go with the 12k

DDM tuning has the best HID kit for the dollar. Ebay kits sucks, as do all the other kits offered on this site. With the tC being a 2006 though, the housings will make the HID's look like pure crap and blind everyone.

You can get a good deal from HIDEXTRA on this site. Honestly, stay with 4300k or 5000k if you don't want the police harassing you (at least in NY). I bought mine from MobileHID over 2 years ago and they are still running. too bad they stopped selling them cause of laws.

if your wife wants a slight blue tint, stick with 6000k or 8000k (8 being a light blueish, and 6 being more of a bright white with a slight blue)

i personally have a kit 6000k from mengmotorsports.com and it works great.

as for the electrical, its recommended you buy an aftermarket HID wiring harness (usually theyre universal), but its not required. the harness is just to ensure your factory wires and plugs dont melt or burn over time due to the different wattage/voltage/amps the HID ballests use.

i agree with DDMtuning.com i got mine from there. 6k 35 watt was dropped from $40 to $35. and the harness was dropped from $15 to $10. so everything including shipping was only like $59. im really happy with mine. it didnt come with instructions, but its pretty easy to figure out. if u need help, just holler

Thanks for all the info...DDMtuning is less expensive and from the feedback left above it seems the quality isn't sacrificed so I'll be checking them out.

Spicy_McHaggiz ...what do you mean the HIDs will look like crap and blind everyone since we have an '06? Can you please elaborate a bit more? Anyone else who has an opinion about this feel free to share it?

Obviously I'm looking to improve the look of my wifes car...not make it worse.

I love these threads. I always get a good laugh at the suggestions people continue to make, especially when have absolutely no clue what they're talking about.

It's because the 2006's don't have projector headlights thus HID's will glare and reflect like crazy to oncoming drivers. Projectors direct the light in a crisp beam. Hope that helps.

Blue is illegal in most states... I'd stick with 6k... it will still have a very slight blueish tint to them... I have an '07 (Flint Mica as well) which has the same headlight housings as the '06... and as long as you aim the headlights down a little, you'll avoid throwing glare at everyone on the road... no one has ever flashed their highbeams at me and never been pulled over for lights that are too bright...

if you're at a stoplight behind another car and most of the light is hitting the car above the bumper, you're probably pointed too high... not the most accurate way to aim headlights, but it's a good starting point...

I would say check out https://www.scionlife.com/forums/exclusive-sponsored-sales-1612/hid-plug-play-kits-%24100-shipped-overnight-87638/ best customer service above all...
