Default tinting your moonroof

im about to get tints and i was wondering..
how many tC owners tinted their sun/moonroof?
think its necessary?
imo i think tinting moonroof would match all the other windows, but thats just me

moon roof is already tinted, and my tint guy told me not to do it, since the moonroof gets constant exposure to sun, and the tint would basically be hanging on the window while it's trying to dry, he said that he wouldn't be able to warrant that work, b/c the tint might crack in the future or not adhere right, but offered a lifetime warranty for the rest of my car...

You can always slide shut the "shades" if sun exposure is the concern. Otherwise, I think it looks plenty dark stock.

I got tired of getting scalp sunburn.

And it matches my rear and side windows better tinted.

My tint has a warranty, and the tint guys I went to actually encouraged me to get both parts of the roof tinted--it really wouldn't look right without it.

Even as dark as it is, I can still see the stars.

I wouldnt recommend it. Most tinters say that this can cause issues of overheating and possibly shattering. Use the shade.

Eh, I'd see no use of tinting it. Pretty dark already. And yes, it is 20%. If you're really that **** about how it would look, tint it. But IMO, I wouldn't really see any difference.

there would be no reason it cannot be tinted. We have been doing window tint at our retail shop for over 10 years and always get requests to do sun and moon roofs. With it already being tinted any tint added on top will make it pretty much limo black.

Yes and no...

Yes - You can do it. And the guy who did mine gave me the life time warenty without even mentioning anything about it.

No - Its not limo tint dark. I have 35% over mine and you can still some what see thru it from the outside. From the inside, it only seems a little bit darker. Over all it blends well with everything. I have 30% on all four side windows, 20% on the hatch and 35% on both roof panels.

...And it totally cuts the inside temp down in the summer even with the shades pulled.

i love the argument how tinting the moonroof could make it shatter.

"the tint would be hanging on the window while its trying to dry"?? find an installer that has....a roof in his shop.

i had mine done to help with the temps and so the glass would be consistent.

I think it might be useful...

Even in the summer, I can feel the heat just wafting off the shade.

sunburn on your head? with stock tint? Almost impossible, since its a 20% that blocks 99.2% of the sun rays

U cant get a sunburn from our sunroofs. haha?

You've never driven around in the summer sun with the sunshade pulled? It gets a lot hotter than just with the shade closed. Even with the shade closed, you can still feel the heat... although that might be due in general to a hot roof (probably would be the same way with a solid metal roof).
