Default TYC taillights went out - FIX IT ticket

So umm, last night i got pulled over because my tail lights were out. Thank goodness the cop realized that because I could've gotten rear ended or something. I searched the forums already and I know where the fuses are at (steering wheel and kick panel) so I will check them out later tonight when I get home.

Here is the problem:

When I hit the brakes, the TYC lights work fine, but when I am driving, the lights won't be on. Could that be a possible fuse problem? I am a little confused because the lights work when I brake though.

For those w/ TYC lights, its just the 2 reflector strips and the LEDs that are supposed to stay on right?

thanks in advance guys/gals.

your parking lights or headlights have to be "on" in order for the brakes to be "on" without actually braking lol

so....umm....did you have your lights on?

yea, make sure your headlights are on. If they are then check the wiring and fuses over again. and yes, you have to reflector strips. the top part is the blinker, and the bottom are the lights/brake lights and reverse.

LOL yes my headlights are switched 'on' .. and the reason i knew that my brake lights work is because i parked my car in reverse and saw the reflection when i sat in the car while pressing the breaks.

i came home late so i didn't have time to go under the steering wheel column to check the fuses :/

if your headlights are on, the single LEDs in the TYCs should be dimly lit, if brake is applied there is a noteable difference in brightness

This happened to me before too. Check your fuses, it should be the parking light one.
