If they're done right, either one looks pretty good.

I personally don't like the VHT because it's rather difficult to control the opacity. You get'em dark enough to the point where you may as well have used black spraypaint. I like the dark tail lights, but you need to balance between looks and other drivers being able to see'em.

Another thing though, VHT IS controllable as far as opacity. Take your time between coats...test lights in different light. I'm going to do mine but with only 2-3 coats so as to make them darker but also functional.

Overlays. And if you do them dark with VHT, have a set of stock ones and be ready to remove and install when you get hasseled by cops. With overlays, you just pull it off. Plus, I think with VHT you may get darker spots unless you do a really good job.

So, +1 on OVERLAYS

YAWN....

You miss the third option...

www.jonstintedtails.com

Custom Tinting / Variable Darkness / Clear Coated / SUPER Glossy & Professional Results

Not to mention, it whoops both Nightshades and Overlays...

But how much does that run you? I thought I remembered seeing a price before, and it was pretty steep..

Yep, similiar to the LED Swaps... make an appointment, send it, and two days or so later, get it back... (I bought an extra pair of tails off ebay for 80 bucks and did it), as I went the darkest you can, for show effect and wanted to change back if I got flack from cops (which I haven't yet) Never heard a bad thing about his work yet, as I always wanted to do in when I was in the VW world (which he's a big supporter of and has been for at least 4 years)

I just think it's a much overlooked option...

Biased, but I like our Smoked Taillight Film Kits ;)

Quicker, easier, more durable, and look better.
