Default Weird noise while driving?! wtf? Help!!

Hey all,

ive noticed on the freeway , while driving at 80 mph, there is a whistling/ rattling noise coming from the dash area. im not really sure where the noise is coming from exactly. But yeah, i took it into longo toyota like 2-3 times already because of the damn noise i hear. They cant seem to replicate this problem because 80 mph is not legal so they cant really test it. The technician tried to replicate it cause i told him to just push it and go 80mph. He did but the noise didnt happen again .

WTF?

also i noticed this noise only comes when im driving at 80mph in hot temperatures. Around 80-90 degrees.

So im pretty much screwed, i dont know what the problem is and the techs wont find out what the problem is because of the speed limit. Anyone have an idea what the noise is and where its coming from?

because this doesn't happend all the time it will be a little difficult for the techs at toyota to replicate, and also they would have to take your car on the freeway going 80

yep. i went with them to take my car on the freeway. No replication at all. I was pretty damn ____ed.

Keep in mind 80 is past the speed limit so the tech might or might not want to exceed this. grrrrrr. i think we're screwed. i dont think its anything serious. Just really annoying

I notice my 08 doing this to around 80-85. i was checking a/c and everything it sounds like a whining/whistle/siren almost gets very annoying. I am sure it is wind noise. Mine is coming from driverside somewhere in front of/in dash.

Well how about this. The whistling is the air filter sucking in a large amount of air to keep up with the amount of fuel being let into the cylinders. The rattling might be the intake rattling due to turbulence. (80 mph you will have turbulence)

Ive driven up to 130 and had turbulence, no rattling, but whistling yes because of the intake.

Possible. But ive never had an intake that whistles when doing 80. or rattles from from turbulence its pretty solid there.

Question to others.

I have the TRD CAI do the rest of you? AND Does it do this to others that do not have CAI?

i have this same whistling noise, usually above 70mph and it dosen't always happen. I have an appointment to have it looked at on Tuesday but i'm probably going to cancel so i can go make some extra money because I know they won't be able to duplicate the sound.
