I have the Silverstar Ultra's in right now and I'm on my 3rd month with them. I'm hoping they last longer than the 2 people mentioned above me. At the same time I hope they blow out, that way I have an excuse to buy HID's...lol.

I just did the "9005-to-9006 Conversion" with Silverstar Ultras. Before that, I had regular Silverstar 9006s in with no problems the year and a half I ran them. A few words of advice: When installing new bulbs DO NOT touch the bulbs with your bare hands! The oils left by your fingers will cause the bulb to burn out quicker. This goes for ANY brand bulb. Before you put the new bulb back into the housing, wipe it down with a CLEAN microfiber cloth. I feel better now.

I am also interested in this as I just had one of my silverstars blow out too... I do a LOT of driving and it lasted me about 4 months. I would like the same or better quality but with a longer life...

I had silver stars and loved how they look, but they suck for durability, I lost them within a month of each other, lasted about 4 months. Got stoopitt and bought another set. lasted 3 months, and that's without using them during the day (as day runners).

gotta find something to stuff in my "egale" projector headlights, the ones that came with em, one died already. they aren't the same as the 9006's in the oem. H4's maybe? I've seen the Xenon's and ah lahks em! maybe I can find some xenons for my application ...

Use vinyl gloves when installing . If the bulb just barely touches ANY part of your skin , it will die soon . Two and a half years on my SS thus far . They used to blow out on me way early too . Even when I was careful on install . As for HID kits . Why can't anyone say that a certain kit works perfectly in the reflector housing or what projectors to use ? Sheesh . Sooo many buy the HID kits and talk about the beauty . Noone has said with ANY authority , that there is no glare or scatter . And all of the projectors for sale , are too good for HID from what I can gather . I will stick with the SS until..........

There is def no scatter with my HID's it actualy projects more light in the ground and it extended a bit, but I agree all aftermarket kits will have some glare but you can always point the aim down. An yes ricexizxgood retro fit for FTW!!! but i dont have the money to do that right now hehe.

it's because the poor quality control and manufacturing of those bulbs... along with many other cheap generic brands out there are known to cause the stock wiring harnesses to melt..
that's why..
if you're smart though.. you'll know how to prevent that from happening.
