the clear coat and UV protectant a hood SHOULD come with do most of the work but also waxing it once in a while helps keep the shine and protect it. just keep it out of the sun for long periods of time over a period of time..like if you have to park in the sun everyday for work for 8 hours a day..

it will eventually fade..doesn't mean that it will happen all of a sudden. but taking care of it will help prevent it

i have both...seibon is way better looking carbon fiber. my ait hood is crazy light, but the clear coat sucks. it didnt react well to wax and faded within 2-3 months. now i need to get it refinished, anyone have info on a diy or just take to shop?

my vote goes to seibon, but i love the style of my raiden hood :/

If a carbon fiber product ever does fade, whether it be hoods or fenders, how do you make it "like new" again?

paint it :-D

I think the TC is the only car that looks good with CF hood and hatch. On other cars i think it looks dumb and i would just paint it to match the car.

i would say both are good, but 318 said that his hood cracked, which is very uncommon.

also, use marine wax on the hood, dont use car wax.. marine wax will make the finish last much longer.

Is it just the clear coat that fades? Or does the actual fiber fade color? I wonder if it fades if you could wet sand the clear coat and then re spray it.

what are you guys using to care for the hood (wax or car care products)?
I know AIT hood come with a gel coat not clear coat. Carbon fiber itself is never shinny.. true dry carbon is dull.
