Default Which wind splitter should I get?

APR or DocIsotope or maybe another brand I don't know of? Also, reasons for choosing one over the other would be helpful also. Difference in price is not an issue for me.

Any input would be much appreciated, thanks!

I have the Doctor Isotope and I recommend that spitter. Cheaper than APR and helps support our community. No brainer.

Don't have experience with the APR one, but Doc's is 1/4" ABS plastic and is pretty much more durable than the bumper itself. I've smashed curbs plenty of times and honestly, when I took the splitter off to examine it during a refresh...it looked like it had never been on the car. Plus, Doc's splitter has a cut out so you can change your oil without having to remove the splitter, very very very handy.

when it comes down to it both splitters are purely for asthetics. the amount of downforce generated at normal driving speeds is negligible. IMO the doc isotope has two advantages.

-less expensive
-supports SL community

Not all of us buy splitters for aesthetics. (Pacific Raceways, Kent WA)

...however, I concur that the majority of the buyers are interested mostly in the looks.

((FYI: If you're looking for a splitter that will provide downforce required to be in an actual racing event rather than high speed lapping, a custom part will be required. Otherwise, the Doc Iso splitter provides noticable downforce at race speeds.)

indeed but im sure the rest of your suspension mods make much more difference than the splitter.

Yea, for the most part they're complimentary systems. Aero without suspension will only take you so far, suspension without aero...you get the point.

That said, the splitter provides noticeable downforce while at race speed. I was surprised how much it actually changed the handling characteristics and running it without a rear wing for balanced downforce has proven to make for some interesting rear-end lightness...

Yea, one thing about ABS plastic versus Carbon Fiber is that ABS can take a LOT of bending before it even complains. CF can bend a lot, but if you push it too far it cracks and then splinters.

I'm not super low (1.5-1.8 inch drop), but I don't often skim even on high incline drives. I'd be worried about the CF splitter if I kissed the incline, I'm more worried about my bumper bending than my ABS splitter even showing a single scratch. Seriously.

To add to this, it's not just Scionlife he supports, it's the entire Scion Community...which is of far greater importance/relevance.

Haha Scotty that splitter is mine now!

Reason for getting it over Doc Iso is cause it's carbon fiber. It's pretty heavy, though. Very sturdy splitter, too. I slid into a wall headlight-first going 30-40 mph, and all the splitter got was the scratch you can barely see on the passenger side. My bumper and fender were completely messed up, but the splitter was fine. Only real damage was the support rod slightly bent.

So I dunno what McGee is talking about

anyone have a splitter installed on the kaminari bumper? I don't have the splash guards underneath, and figured looks plus help keep stuff in the engine bay. Not sure how it would look on my bumper though.

That's what I'm talking about. I'm not trying to say CF isn't really strong, I'm just speaking about what happens when you get to the breaking point...which you clearly didn't reach.

Glad to hear the splitter -and your car- weren't too smashed up!
