10% is about the same effect as sunglasses. . . ever wear sunglasses at night? My bro's car in Thailand is tined 10% on the windshield, and 5% on the rest of the windows (cops don't care if you got a bling ride). You can't see AS WELL, but you can see SOME when the tint is THAT dark. But he's got a hired chaffeur and it's his @ss if he crashes. I personally would never go beyond 30% for any windows in the front.

Check that for your state laws. Don't know how up to date it is. I've had limo on my corolla here in KY and never really had a problem. And I've been stopped a few times. Just flip the dome light on and get those windows down before he gets to the car.
Thanks for the link mancide. It says that it was updated in June 2004, but I still have to ask if that info is correct...There is no tint allowed on any vehicles post-1998 in PA?? Anyone from PA know anything about this?

i tint windows. ask a person who sees and deals with cars everyday. you can't beat the look of 20%. it is such a classy look. when you go down to 5%, it makes the car look cheap. it may be just an opinion of mine, but it's an opinion from someone who saw a lot. my tc is 20% all around and 50% on the windshield (only to block uv and heat)

Can y'all post some pics of the different percentages? My state limit is 30% all 'round, but I think I may want it darker so I'd like to see the difference in 20% compared to 30% if possible. Any pics are appreciated! Thanks!

on my previous car, 2002 MINI, i had 5% rear 3 and 25% fronts...

A month before I traded it in, I recieved a $110 ticket.

I lived in SoCal at the time. 20% is ILLEGAL. The legal limit in CA was somewhere around 89%.

You tint, you risk tickets.
You get a ticket, you have to remove violating tint. Sometimes they make you remove ALL of it.
This of course equals More $$$ outta your pocket, and time, and all that goes with dealing with the police and courts, etc...

Default windows tint

I always had my windows tint in the past...

I was pretty lucky, I never ticketed once...

I am not getting my windows tint this time on my tC. Love to have it tint, but most of my tint in the past, I ran into quite a few problems... got scratches from car washes... edge started to come off after a couple of years... tint places cause rattle on the door they work on... windows seems to roll up a lot slower after tinted... one of the power window broke after couple of years... tint was all scratched up...

Just too much problem... Not getting tint this time...

Good luch to you all that decided to get yours tinted.

yeah. . . my main concern is with scratching, which usually isn't covered by their warrantees. I'm not sure about the tC, but the xA and xB do not have a felt lining under the dirt protector on widshield, so any dirt caught in there may scratch the window(at least so I'm told. . . been too lazy, yes lazy, to actually check and I usually forget to anyway).

I think you'll be happy with 20%. That's what I got on my tC, and I love it. It took awhile for me to get used to it, though, and it's still not easy to see through the windows at night. If there's not at least a streetlight somewhere nearby, I can't see a damn thing. Be careful about backing up at night.

Looks very nice. I'm getting 35 on the front sides, 5% on the rear sides and back. 100% legal in AZ.
