That guys car was insane. I might try to swap something into mine since my transmission is blown, but I doubt it will be this trans since the new tC and old tC have nothing in common.

well, they are virtually the same for 1st and second, 3rd slighty higher and 4th higher, so on so on. I'm not sure if that much of a difference between 5th (current) 6th (new one) is enough to drop rpms. Heck 1/4 mile times might suck even more, 1st and sec about the same, but 3rd might. Just like the new STI and WRX.

For the lazy ones ;-P

Current
1st 3.538
2nd 2.045
3rd 1.333
4th 0.972
5th 0.775

New
1st 3.538
2nd 2.047
3rd 1.375
4th 1.025
5th 0.875
6th 0.733

Damn. Why does toyota want these engines to always be turning so many rpms on the highway? Grr.

Wow! Some people should step away from cars and tools. If cars cant run right cause you changed gears or final drives then how does your car still drive after changing gears in manual transmissions and I'm sorry but rangerryda knows what he is talking about. Listen to him!

World racing could probably tell us if it fit. They have a new tC in their shop.

you can see it in the vid around the 1:18 mark. its silver. then they talk about it later in the video.

Not only do they not want the cars to last as long as they could, they definitely can't have a $17k coupe achieving 40mpg--think of the poor Prius sales!

How sweet would it be if the rpm's dropped down under 2k when you shifted into 5th at 65mph. Sigh.

For all you people wanting super low cruising speeds, swap in a camry box from an 03-07 2az camry, itll get you to ~78 before 3k rpm, or since toyota has followed their tride and true method of "take whats in the camry and shorten the ratios" with the new tc as well, try swapping in the 2ar camry six speed, literally these ratios are just pitiful, and i promise youll be shifting back out of sixth all the time but...

3.538
2.047
1.375
.975
.744
.659
and all with a FD of 4.058

so on the 1st gens stock 17s a whopping 82mph before 3k (on larger wheels this will be higher), be ware though, that is a very very long setup for an engine with as little power as ours so you best enjoy a lot of shifting.

honestly I feel a franken-box is still the best way to go, I love keeping the stock E350 final drive but getting a .73 fifth gear, still goes like before but does 75 at about 400 rpm less

THIS MEANS what ever tranny bolts to that black will bolt up to ours...now the only issue would be to get that tranny motor mount made to fit our car..

and for those who seek to drop the new 2.5 in there wait till the new tc actully comes and see if the motor mounts need messing with, after looking at a camry the motor mounts are different but things could change 4 the tc
People are forgetting all about what to do with the ECU.

I don't think so. There's tons of posts in here about whether or not a new ecu is needed. I'm in the "keep the stock" ecu camp.

Here's a pic I snapped today:

It does look a bit different, so like Rob said it will not work, but I'm sure someone will try anyways.
