Default 2AZ-FXE

I was reading up on the new toyota engine and it ways it has the same bore and stroke as our model engine. so its pistons which are 12.5:1 compression should fit in our motor am i not correct?

As cool as that would be I usually associate those three letter to some type of flex fuel set up in which case the high compression ratio would make sense. If you want high compression why not go with a good after market brand?

I guarantee if you speak to the companies direct they will make you some 12.5:1 pistons if that is what you want. Don't just go off of website call them and ask the only difference will be is cost. You will definitely pay a lot more for ones that are custom made vs off the shelf. You will need a solid engine management running that high compression if not a standalone.

yea but just because the compression ratio is 12.5:1 for the 2az-fxe does not mean that the pistons are performance quality...much less that they can handle nitrous. O and btw if you want to have more than 11:1 compression ratio and THEN run nitrous....have fun blowing your motor in like 10k miles

Not true any significant mod you do will stand a chance of blowing your engine i.e. higher compression pistons, turbo, and etc. If you have a standalone and have it professionally tuned for this you can do this without issue. You will always have to run premium and changes are they will have to pull a little timing.

Is your friend an experienced tuner? If he is not then that would not be a good idea also if you go through with it do not push it at all until tuned by professional.

The FXE engines toyota makes with those high compression pistons are Atkinson cycle engines for hybrids.

And if you want to run nitrous, you're better off sticking with stock-ish compression. It's similar to the same reasons why turbo guys fare better with lower compression... you're cramming more air/fuel in artificially, achieving higher cylinder pressures that way. Adding a second mechanism adds another variable.

It will be a lot more lenient to tune, and you can potentially run a bigger shot of nitrous.
