Only a guess - and with a little bit of logic behind it...

The motor should be the same as long as the engine code (2AZ-FE) is the same. Usually the only differences between cars would be electronics and transmissions.

That says to me that the tC 2AZ is different from the Rav4 and the Camry 2AZ.

You can use the head and block from any 2AZ for your tC no matter what it is out of. But keep in mind the tC intake mani is different because it uses a different Throttle Body and in th 07 up tC engines they bumped the compression up a bit and added oil squirters to the bottom of the cylinders for added oiling. So all in all you can use any 2AZ with no problems just not the Intake.

i was additionally under the impression that the block is the same, but theres disparity in the intakes and exhaust. And yes the tCs have a higher compression ratio in the 07s and 08s. the new ones are at 9.8:1 and i believe the 05s and 06s are at like 9.6:1

slight differances in intake manifolds from what I have seen and tC has its own throttle body that from what I can find no one else has the same for their 2.4s.

soem Yaris owners swap out xD throttle bodies for their 1.5s for the bigger body.

There are a few engine builders that found out the internals are different. The bearings and a few other parts were found to be different after a company tore down the engine to rebuild it they bought Camry parts from a 2AZ-FE engine and the parts did not fit.
