Default Accidently driving in 3rd gear for awhile!

Wow...I must be hella dumb to NOT notice I was driving in 3rd gear for almost a month now.....I have an AUTO and the damn "D" is right next to the "3"...So I just never noticed the damn thing until today!!!!....OOPS!

My question is Have I caused any damage to my baby????.....or future probs??

3 is OK to drive in and won't hurt your car however D is overdrive and will save you gas if you use it.

"D" has overdrive , 3 is just drive

So...Driving in "3"....wont do any damage then??...I can feel a big difference between the two...just making sure!!

No damage, your tranny just wasnt able to shift into the 4th gear. Worst case, bad gas mileage from cruising at higher RPMs.

Can someone explain to me what overdrive is? Some automatics have the button for it and I don't really know what it is exactly. I'm thinking like, a cruising gear / mode that kind of saves gas... is that totally wrong?

the overdrive gear is your last gear, typically your longest gear, giving you the best MPG.
